Under the motto "Always one step ahead", the aim is to develop a content-related and economic implementation concept for a "Reallabor 100% erneuerbare Energie Waldviertel".
solSPONGEhigh - High solar fraction by thermally activated components in an urban environment
Within this project the intensive use of thermally activated building elements (TABs) as an additional thermal storage in different buildings, with solar technologies (thermal, PV) preferred for energy supply, was investigated. The aim was to activate and use the thermal storage potential that is immanent in the building elements and thereby achieve solar coverage of the building's heat demand of nearly 100 %.
IEA SHC, Task Solar Thermal Plants with Advance Thermal Storage Technologies for Low Energy Buildings
Participation in TASK 32 "Storage concepts for solar buildings". Subtask leader of the subtask for heat storage based on phase change materials
IEA PVPS Task 12: PV Environmental Health And Safety (working period 2016-2018)
The aim of IEA PVPS Task 12 is to foster international collaboration in the area of photovoltaics and environment. That includes compiling and disseminating accurate Information on environment, health, safety, and other aspects of sustainability associated with the life-cycle of photovoltaics. The austrian contribution addresses LCA, implementation of sustainability aspects and dissemination.
Multifunctional City Nucleus
Sustainable mixed-use utilization of urban commercial and industrial areas with a specific focus on energy-related aspects.
Innovative moth-protection system for sheepwool insulation
This project developed a novel "bio-pesticide"-formula by screening plant extracts and minerals for their strong repellant activity in order to protect sheepwool insulation from cloth moth infestation. It was investigated and examined by state-of-the-art-technology that the anti-moth-mixture extracted from plants and minerals, acts as a valid alternative to existing pest control agents.
Post City Linz - Biodiversity in the CO2-neutral urban quarter
The project "Post City Linz" aims to show that a currently unattractive industrial wasteland can be transformed into a microclimatically ambitious, energy- and resource-efficient quarter with 150,000m² of gross floor area by means of an innovative mix of office, commercial, hotel and residential uses. The focus is on the integration of biodiversity promotion, a CO2 neutral energy supply and innovative energy management in the quarter, animal aided design as well as rainwater management based on the principle of the "sponge city".
Positioning of sustainable gardening products in retail sales markets
Market analysis for sustainable gardening products and research of marketing strategies. Promotion of a range of sustainable products in the Austrian retail sales market specialized in gardening. Development of a concept for implementation together with one Austrian chain of garden centres (bellaflora).
CellPor - cellulose polymerized - new methods for the processing of a polymer-cellulose-foam according to ecological criteria in construction
The development of a spray applicable cellulose composite as insulating material on the basis of renewable resources, combined by the development of a prototype for the spray-on technology for processing the new, water free cellulose composite are the demanding challenges of this project.
Live Webinar: Experience with Low-cost (MOS VOC) sensors for residential ventilation
10. December 2020
Online, AT
The talk will summarize research done in Denmark on the usability of low-cost air quality sensors for controlling of residential ventilation. The experiments studied sensors’ performance under typical air polluting activities occurring in homes. The presentation will also discuss pros and cons with respect to sensors’ suitability for demand control of residential ventilation.
Seminar: Energy flexible buildings as a part of resilient low carbon energy systems
13. September 2023
Technology Centre Seestadt - aspern Seestadt, Seestadtstraße 27, 1220 Wien
This seminar is looking into the role of energy flexibility measures and solutions supporting buildings and building neighborhoods in demand response and their use of fluctuating renewable energy sources.
"BIO-VISION II"
At the predefined locations of a dairy in Upper Austria and a brewery in Lower Austria the demonstration units of biogas - fuel cell are to be planned in the detail. Therefore exact economical and technical investigations and documentations will be prepared. Important goals are optimized energetic integration and best economical solutions.
BATTBOX - BATTeryrecycling Best Operations by X-processes for circular battery ecosystem
In the BATTBOX project, e-mobility traction batteries are analysed for their cycle capability. The design and structure of battery systems are examined and evaluated regarding potential hazards. Based on this, the best possible handling and processing procedures are developed to improve and optimize the product life cycle regarding safety and recyclability.
Evaluation of mechanical class room ventilation systems in Austria and generation of a planning guideline
Accumulation of technical solutions and practical experience of schools (kindergarten) with mechanical ventilation systems and identification of how pupils and teachers accept the systems.
Biomass-Logistic-Centers
By establishing regionally best situated logistic centers it shall be guaranteed that in all of Styria transport and processing costs will be reduced and that a continual supply of biomass firewood of constant quality is ensured.
Solar cooling machine with a cooling power of 2 kW
