The overall objective of the project is to pursue and demonstrate a holistic approach to the design, construction and ultimately the use of the residential quarter in the context of energy supply. Especially in the area of thermal energy supply, a project with lighthouse character on the way to a plus-energy quarter is to be created by demonstrating the innovative supply concept based on an anergy network.

PlusIQ - Agricultural Photovoltaics: Integration as a Path to Plus-Energy-Quarters
This project examines opportunities, potentials and requirements of/for Agrophotovoltaic systems. Thereby, an interdisciplinary study will be conducted that integrates the major aspects of such systems holistically and from an integrative perspective. The complex interdependencies between the different aspects will be explored and described via a case study. Potential approaches toward realization will be studied and subjected to a comprehensive SWOT-analysis.

The city of St. Pölten forsees great potential in Vertical Farming with regard to the objectives related to the concept of the Smart City program - linking local food production, quality of life by reducing resource consumption. This has to be evaluated by combining Vertical Farms with existing living buildings. Eco-social and socio-economic considerations play an important role in this process.

The project aim on one hand is to evaluate and adapt current trainings in the field of biomass, solar thermal energy, photovoltaic, heat pumps and ventilation and on the other hand to define new potential trainings in case of further demand. This shall be a fundamental basis to prevent the threat of the absence of professionals and to increase the quality of already converted projects.
IEA 4E Annex: Mapping and Benchmarking
In the Mapping and Benchmarking work (formerly M&B Annex) the following product were analyzed: domestic refrigeration (update), dishwashers, settop boxes, transformers and lights, for which this report includes most relevant results and the related M&B publications. It also introduces the 2015-2016 work on motors, liquid chillers, and water boilers.
