What is the value of energy storage and how can it be quantified? How can the benefits and value of energy storage be translated into promising business models? The Task will conduct a coordinated methodological assessment of the economic viability of energy storage (electrical, thermal, and chemical) in applications relevant to the energy system. This will be used to derive preferred conditions for energy storage configurations.

The energy concept led Gugler in frame of the conversion and expansion of the company towards plus-energy standard. IEA EBC Annex 70: Building Energy Epidemiology: Analysis of Real Building Energy Use at Scale

Within the framework of the IEA-EBC Annex 70, causes of deviations between calculated and actual energy consumption in buildings were empirically investigated and requirements for data quality, characteristics and security were developed. Furthermore, recommendations were developed regarding the use of internationally uniform standards and methods for data collection, processing and evaluation.

Refurbishment of an existing villa of the "Gründerzeit" to passive house standard with passive and active solar use

The project shows in an exemplary way how buildings of the time of "Gründerzeit" could be maintained and could offer a better environmental balance including the view of the village and the traffic than a new building. As an example a villa has been converted into a multi-family house within a larger housing project.

Accelerated design of a pilot scale process for enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of lactose in whey using microreactor technologies. Development of a prototypical immobilized enzyme microreactor for optimisation of enzymatic reactions; improved gathering of process-relevant parameters for reduced time-to-market and decision support for investment decisions.
