Modular and standardised passive houses in solid timber construction
Concerning to an accurate and adaptable construction of 2 to 4 storey solid timber houses with the characteristics of a passive house, a digital construction and dimension system will be developed. The system which contains standardised modular ecological detailed solutions enables an exact dimensioning and installation of passive houses by small carpentering companies.
e-genius.at: The Open Content knowledge and learning platform
The objective of the project was to develop online teaching materials on the topics energy-efficient buildings and renewable energy sources in collaboration with technical vocational schools and vocational higher secondary schools.
CPC-lightweight construction collector
On the basis of our relieable CPC-collector SOLARFOCUS S1 we develop the CPC-lightweight construction collector to get more material efficiency and maximum output of solar hightemperature energy.
Can sustainable building be realized at reasonable costs?
At the development "residential Passive House Utendorfgasse" were reached very low building costs. Would there be different building costs by using ecological materials and technologies? There will be calculated additional and reduced costs by using the ecological building-catalogue and internal characteristic values of projects that are similar in design.
Gründerzeit with future - demonstration project 3: KA 7 Kaiserstraße - Innovative renovation of a listed Gründerzeit building
A demonstration of how innovative measures, with highly efficient and contemporary standards and taking into consideration comfort and energy consumption, can be applied to a heritage listed building.
PassiveHouseDataBase - International Passive House and Passive House Plus Database
About 3.000 buildings are documented, all of them show a high level of comfort and follow energy and building technique standards for passive houses and plus-passive houses. By integration of object and evaluation data, the database will become the worldwide basis for extremely energy efficient buildings and because of its multilingualism and quality assurance opens up new sustainable export possibilities.
Biomimetic potentials - Interdisciplinary identification and preparation of innovative biological inspired key technologies for "Plus-energy buildings of the future"
Experts from various branches of industry and research as well as bionics representatives worked out innovative ideas regarding "Key technologies for Plus-Energy-Buildings". The results provide a collection of emergent bionic research potential for the implementation of innovative research in the Austrian building sector.
Solar Assisted Heating Networks
An investigation of the economic and ecological usefulness of coupling two CO2 neutral energy sources; solar installations for multi-family houses, producing standardised systems concepts and planning guidelines.
Development of thermal solar systems with unproblematic stagnation behaviour
Research on the influence of collector hydraulics, piping and the arrangement of plant components on the stagnation behaviour of thermal solar systems.
Building and modernising with "Building of Tomorrow"
The project BauModern turned to non-profit and commercial housing developers and real estate managements. In close co-operation with the federations of the housing and real estate economy has been achieved that builders are informed about market-suited innovative technologies and concepts and use these strengthened for their projects both in the new building and in the refurbishment.
SOCO.net - Solar Cooling Network for AUSTR(AL)IA
The main goal was to establish a long-term cooperation for "Solar Cooling" between the Austria Solar Innovation Center (ASiC) and the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES) at the renowned Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. Combining the competences of both institutes immediately offers the chance to boost the penetration of the European and the Australian market with this new technology for cooling in sustainable buildings.
Smart ABC Smart Energy Efficient Active Buildings and Building Clusters
The EPBD recast 2010 targeted "nearly zero energy buildings". This low amount of energy is to be covered by energy from renewable energy sources. The project "Smart ABC" analysed a variety of relevant solution sets regarding the building performance and the renewable based energy supply options. Energetic and ecological impacts were analyzed in order to optimize the integration of renewable energy technologies in building standards and to find answers how to depict a building cluster regarding standards and tools.
"gugler! build & print triple zero" - Subproject 8: Leuchtturm gugler – Ökoeffektive Plusenergiedruckerei
On the basis of the commercial building gugler with 2140 m² useable floor area existing and 3260 m² useable floor area to be built a concept for a 100% recyclable ecoeffective building had been developed.
AGelFa - Development of surface structurable final-coating stucco systems on high-performance heat-insulating aerogel insulation plaster for historic building facades.
High-performance insulating plaster systems represent an important option toward improving the thermal insulation of historic buildings without changing their physical appearance. The high-performance aerogel insulation plaster has recently become available for deployment. In this context, the present will explore final stucco systems suitable for building with structured surfaces.
Operational and maintenance costs in passive houses and low energy houses
How much energy does a passive house actually save? Does a passive house pay-off by itself? What are the costs for maintancence? For the first time an approximation for the running costs of a passive house were systematically documented and compared.
Gründerzeit with future - demonstration project 2: ROOFJET Wißgrillgasse - sustainable solution for improving the thermal-energetic performance of a typical historical building in Vienna
The main aim of the project ROOFJET Wißgrillgasse is a building refurbishment by a factor of 8 which demonstrates that even historical buildings can be refurbished to lowest energy standard. This demonstration project shows a holistic and sustainable refurbishment concept for a special type of buildings with innovative technical and organizational solutions.
LifeCycle Tower - Energy efficient prefabricated multi-storey timber houses
Based on the results of previous research projects, the project at hand deals with the development of a wooden prefabricated module construction for energy efficient office buildings with up to 20 storeys. This sustainable system ensures cost certainty through the whole life cycle of the building.
Development of a new generation of grid-connected PV inverters
Improvement of operational parameters (efficiency, quality of current waveform, reduced size and weight) and reduction of manufacturing costs
Gründerzeit with future - subproject 5: Documentation and monitoring
The main aim is the documentation and monitoring of the demonstration projects within the scope of the project "Historical buildings of tomorrow" with regard to the technical implementation, investment and operation costs and to the energetic performance. All demonstration projects will be accompanied by an evaluation process regarding occupants' satisfaction and the refurbishment process. Beyond that, legal constraints for innovative refurbishment of historical buildings will be documented and proposals for adaptations of the rental law and refurbishment subsidy schemes will be developed.
