StraTex ‐ Sorting and processing strategies for used textiles to produce recyclable fractions
In StraTex, suitable, economically viable and holistic strategies for the collection, processing and automated sorting of mixed non‐reusable textiles are being developed and experimentally implemented in order to increase the proportion of marketable fractions for high‐quality material recycling (preferably fibre2fibre).
EFFIE - Effizientere, biobasierte und recyclebare Stretchfolie
In EFFIE wird eine biobasiert, recyclebare und biomimetisch funktional strukturierte Wickelfolie in der Palettenverpackung entwickelt. Die im Laborumfeld getestete Wickelfolie wird in die konzeptionelle Entwicklung eines "adaptiven Wickelkonzept" (Prozess- & Anlagenkonzept) integriert. Dadurch wird eine individuelle Palettenwicklung ermöglicht.
Villab – Exploration of a Villach innovation laboratory for the cooperative development of sustainable neighbourhoods
The "Villab - Probe" project serves to check the feasibility of an urban innovation laboratory to accelerate the transformation of Villach districts towards climate neutrality. Assuming positive feasibility, the cooperation with relevant stakeholders will be deepened and a business plan drawn up for a future innovation laboratory.
SYSPEQ - Systemische Lösung zum Betrieb von Plusenergiequartieren
Vollumfängliche Planungskonzepte für Plusenergiequartiere (PEQs) und deren Betrieb als Energiegemeinschaft. Der Fokus liegt auf der Umsetzung im Bestandsbau, insbesondere im Bereich des sozialen/gemeinnützigen Wohnbaus. Finanzierungsoptionen von erneuerbaren Erzeugungsanlagen, Planung und Betrieb eines PEQs (speziell als EG), Vermarktungsmöglichkeiten des Überschussstroms sowie Entwicklung einer Informations- und Vernetzungsplattform sind Teil dieses Projektes. Ein besonderes Highlight ist die praktische Umsetzung eines PEQs und der Betrieb als EG im Demonstrationsquartier Fuchsenloch der Sozialbau.

Full-scale planning concepts for positive energy districts (PEDs) and their operation as energy communities (ECs). The focus is on the implementation in the existing building stock, especially in the area of social/non-profit housing. Financing options for renewable generation units, planning and operation of a PED (especially as an EC), marketing opportunities for surplus electricity and the development of an information and networking platform are part of this project. A special highlight is the practical proof-of-concept in Fuchsenloch, which is a social housing quarter of Sozialbau.
Sekundärer Phosphor als Rohstoff für die chemische Industrie (BiChemPhos)
Phosphorrecycling als Beitrag zur Versorgungssicherheit der Bioökonomie: Die vorliegende Arbeit untersuchte das Potenzial von Sekundärphosphor in der heimischen Industrie. Es wurde eine Literaturrecherche durchgeführt sowie ExpertInnen und Stakeholder befragt. Es zeigte sich, dass derzeit der Einsatz in der Düngemittelindustrie am praktikabelsten erscheint. Obwohl die hiesige Industrie auch technische Phosphate verarbeitet, sind die Mengen und erzielbaren Produktpreise (derzeit) zu gering, um diese Anwendungsbereiche als attraktiv erscheinen zu lassen.

Leitprojekt Fossilfree4Industry (Weiz): Phase out von fossilem Gas für die produzierende Industrie
Das Leitprojekt "Fossilfree4Industry" des Reallabors WEIZplus widmet sich dem Ausstieg der zahlreichen Industrie- und Gewerbebetriebe aus fossilen Energieträgern, insbesondere Erdgas, für die Prozess- und Raumwärmeversorgung im Umfeld der Städteachse Weiz und Gleisdorf. Das Projekt hat das Ziel, die relevanten technologischen Fragestellungen bei der konsequenten Substitution von fossilem Gas in Industriebetrieben zu beantworten und auf ausgewählte Standorte in der Region umzulegen, zu realisieren und wissenschaftlich zu begleiten.
KLIMDO - Gesamtstädtische Energie- und Klimastrategie der Stadt Dornbirn als Grundlage der Erreichung einer Klimaneutralität 2030
Durch die Erhebung relevanter Datengrundlagen, deren Zusammenführung sowie Verräumlichung in einer gesamthaften Datenbank wurde ein aktuelles und fortführbares System zur gesamtstädtischen Energie- und CO2-Bilanzierung sowie entsprechender KPIs entwickelt. Darauf aufbauend konnten durch verschiedene Szenarien die wesentlichsten Stellhebel zur Erreichung der Klimaneutralität erarbeitet werden. Die zentralen Erkenntnisse fließen in die Erstellung einer gesamtstädtischen Energie- und Klimastrategie ein.
KLIMDO - Urban energy and climate strategy of the city of Dornbirn as basis for achieving climate neutrality by 2030
A central goal of the project is to obtain detailed knowledge of energy consumption, energy consumption flows and energy potentials including spatialization in the entire urban araea of Dornbirn. Based on this data, various scenarios are to be elaborated that map possible developments in the city. Subsequently, the basis for an energy and climate strategy based on the vision of climate neutrality will be prepared.

Demonstration eines leistbaren, ressourcenschonenden und innovativen Balkonsystems mit integrierten essbaren Vertikalgärten und Regenwassermanagement. Die Berücksichtigung der Bedürfnisse von Bewohner:innen nach grünen Außenräumen und die aktive Partizipation der Bewohner:innen sind ein wichtiger Teil des Projektes.

Die positive Machbarkeit vorausgesetzt, werden die Kooperationen mit relevanten Stakeholdern vertieft und ein Businessplan für ein künftiges Innovationslabor erstellt.
CircularFood - High-quality products through cascading recycling cycles of residual materials from the food industry
The CircularFood project investigates the material and energetic cascading use of organic food residues from Austrian food production. The aim is to develop innovative processes for the extraction of high-quality protein components, liquid biofertilizers, organic plant substrates and peat substitutes in order to promote the circular economy and reduce CO2 emissions.

RENEW SCHOOL Austria: Beispiele und Finanzierungsmodelle zu Schulsanierungen
Für insgesamt 14 österreichische Schulsanierungsprojekte wurden die Finanzierungs- und Kooperationsmodelle bei der erfolgreichen Umsetzung der Sanierungen untersucht und beschrieben. Daraus wurden wichtige Erfolgsfaktoren für zukünftige Sanierungen von Schulen und ähnlichen öffentlichen Gebäuden abgeleitet und mit 10 Beispielschulen in einer Broschüre veröffentlicht. Das Projekt unterstützt die österreichischen Aktivitäten im IEE EU-Projekt RENEW SCHOOL (www.renew-school.eu).
RENEW SCHOOL Austria: Examples and financing models for school renovations
The project aimed at learning from 14 Austrian school buildings, from their financial and cooperation models, meaning successful cooperation between involved parties. The success factors have been derived from these projects and together with 10 best practice schools been published in a brochure. The project supported the Austrian activities in the IEE EU-Projekt RENEW SCHOOL (www.renew-school.eu).
