SOL4 business and training center Eichkogel

Demonstration project for sustainable construction of a working and living environment
Passive-house-suited low power wood-furnace

Log-fired furnace with low energy performance, optimised to be used in passive house constructions. The desired energy output, ranging from 1 kW to a max-peak of 3 kW, is achieved by an "energy storing unit" (energy-storage material covered by an insulation layer) in combination with valves to control the energy release.
Development of a passivehouse - external door

Development of a passive-house-suited external-door-system producible in series production.
Data for schooling focused on passivehouses

Elaboration of high quality data about Passive Houses technology, to be used in training programs for building related professionals.
Market oriented sustainable ROI-Contracting
Concept for launching of a new business unit or an independent ROI-Contracting Consulting with effects on sustainable development.
Colors of Nature - vegetable dyes in practice
By means of optimization of the production of vegetable dyes and dyeing technology, the vegetable dyestuff "Colors of Nature" will achieve market maturity. In co-operation with farmers and companies of the textile, food processing and wood working industry there has been developed a competitive product throughout the value chain, which will not only yield an ecological advantage, but also generate regional creation of value.

SAVE circular approaches for green buildings!
The project demonstrates the cycle and use of synergies in an ARWAG residential building from the extraction of valuable raw materials through a urine treatment plant (fertilizer) using energy recovery measures (heat recovery, heat pump, photovoltaics) to the use of the fertilizer for the generously designed greening measures and the associated effects on the microclimate.
European Bioeconomy Scientific Forum 2023
6. - 8. September 2023
University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Campus Türkenschanze, Vienna
The European Bioeconomy Scientific Forum is the bi-annual official event of all European Bioeconomy University Alliance’s (EBU) representatives and, for this edition, the event will focus on “Moving towards the transformation”.
# EEG+ digital energy communities
The project addressed issues related to plus-energy neighborhoods and energy communities, both of which aim to make buildings more sustainable. The aim was to explore synergy effects and to research a possible implementation as a demonstration.
ZERIA 3 (Zero Emissions Research in Application)
Elaboration of the principles for zero emission enterprises. The results show that this approach can be realistic and economically advantageous in many cases.
Photovoltaic - Industry and Research in Austria

This brochure examines the existing domestic value creation in the field of photovoltaics and provides an overview of the Austrian research landscape, along with open research questions related to photovoltaic technology.

Integral Resource Optimisation Network - Concept
An integral control network for optimizing the resource "electrical energy". Concept for new, innovative services for the power market based on the latest advances in the field of modern information- and communication technologies.
Knowledge based determination of plant species
Pollen for medical applications can be sorted by special machines. An integrated database and a spectrometric calibration allow a precise separation of the species with an identification of the plant species.
SOCO.net - Solar Cooling Network for AUSTR(AL)IA
The main goal was to establish a long-term cooperation for "Solar Cooling" between the Austria Solar Innovation Center (ASiC) and the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES) at the renowned Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. Combining the competences of both institutes immediately offers the chance to boost the penetration of the European and the Australian market with this new technology for cooling in sustainable buildings.
Zero Carbon Village - energy autarcic settlement
Development and demonstration of a totally CO2 neutral and energy self sufficient residential area, produced in prefabricated straw bale constructions. The focus of the research is put on industrialized modular mass production of "Zero Carbon Houses", energy self sufficiency and the use of energy efficient and sustainable materials like straw.
"Green Biorefinery - Utilitsation of Grass Fibres"
Basic properties of grass fibres from a green biorefinery will be investigated in order to have a sound base for comparison of grass fibres with other renewable fibres. Selected prototype-products with these grass fibres as main raw material source (e.g. insulation materials, gardening material, animal nutrition) will be developed, tested and evaluated whether they are technologically as well as economically feasible.
Ecological and Social Efficiency Index - EASEY X
Basing on a model and indicators for valuing sustainability of companies quoted at the prime market of the Vienna stock exchange methods and instruments have been developed to analyse their performance. By the connecting step company data have been collected and analysed by four different methods (SPSS, EVA, SVA, MCA Outranking). On a 100 scores scale five companies exceeded barely the mark 70, 6 rank between 60 and 69 further 5 between 52 and 59. The aim is to launch a sustainability EASEY index 2004 or beginning 2005.
Conference: Gleisdorf SOLAR 2014
25. - 27. June 2014
Gleisdorf, AT
International Conference on Solar Heating and Cooling. Leading experts are going to present recent results from research, development and demonstration projects.
WEIZconnected - crossbuilding energy exchange
The subject of this project is the design, development and demonstration / test operation of a total system of energy exchange (electricity) across buildings and building-integrated energy production for different types of buildings (residential, office, laboratory buildings).
