Summary
Dr. Wolfgang Feist of the Darmstädter Passivehouse institute initiated the idea of high efficient use of energy for a building system called passivehouse. Austria has research efforts through the "Vorarlberger Energieinstitut" (Prof. DI. Helmut Krapmeier) on this topic, too.
Austria also has several years of experience in all topics of healthy and ecological building through the works of the Austrian Institute for Baubiologie and Bauökologie (IBO). This institute inspired the founding of the Center of Architecture, Construction and Environment at the Danube University Krems 1995.
Within this project experts of the building and construction area should seek for synergies or also ways of co-existence of both present viewpoints and discuss them within a symposium. The concept and the performance of this symposium and also the evaluation of the discussions will be done in a permanent process of co-ordination among the Center and the IBO. Within this process all facts that enable or hinder shall be presented by proceedings. These proceedings shall be available for architects and the building and construction industry in german speeking countries.
The following topics will be discussed:
Topic 1: Criteria of evaluation and possible methods for ecological passivehouses
Topic 2: Ecological details
Topic 3: Lifecycle costs of constructive details of passivehouse buildings
Topic 4: Share of the market and customer needs for ecological passivehouses
Topic 5: Strategies for economic and politic action
Topic 6: Discussion of transfer of know how for ecological passivehouses, networking (national and international)
