Goal of this subproject was to select the building with the highest potential within a building-portfolio. Therefore a criteria catalogue was developed, which is generally applicable.

IEA Photovoltaic Power Systems (PVPS)

Enhance the international collaborative efforts which facilitate the role of photovoltaic solar energy as a cornerstone in the transition to sustainable energy systems. The IEA PVPS programme aims to realise its mission through objectives related to reliable PV power system applications, contributing to sustainability in the energy system and a growing contribution to CO2 mitigation.

Multifunctional building in passive house standard - The building was designed as innovative high-quality passive house (wood construction) with the latest ecological building automation as a pilot project which is multipliable in a reduced respectively altered form in Europe as well as overseas.

OttoWagner-ArealPlus - Feasibility study for a certified plus-energy-district-renovation of the listed Otto-Wagner-Area

Development of an innovative concept for the transformation of the Viennese Otto-Wagner-Area into a plus-energy-quartier while meeting requirements of cultural heritage management. The historic architectural jewel covers an area of ​​around 50 hectares, consists of 70 buildings and a gross floor area of ​​around 200,000 m². The solution meets highest energy efficiency standards and comfort requirements.

lowTEMP4districtheat - Reduction of the system parameters of heating networks for the integration of renewable heat sources using soft sensors

Analysis of the use of soft sensors in addition to selective real measurements for the complete recording of real-time parameters of heating networks. The data obtained enable detailed grid simulations with low computing power requirements and form the basis of a strategy for lowering the grid temperatures and feeding in decentrally generated heat.

Analysis of the high-quality wooden facade in extreme climates

The project "Alpine base Schiestlhaus on the Hochschwab, which was opened in 2005, represents a lighthouse project for the "House of the Future" programme as the 1st shelter in zero-energy house quality. After more than 15 years in operation, however, damages came to light. Within the framework of this project, analysis activities were carried out on the cause of damage as well as the development of new facade structures.

The project researches possibilities and potentials of highly efficient use of space through modern concepts of "stacked" functions and vertical production.

PEB - Plus-Energy-Office

An integrated technical energy plus office concept without additional building costs demonstrates the feasibility of such projects instancing a concrete office project with 50.000 m² floor area in Vienna with economical cost consideration.

FT-Biofuels in Austria

Development of a realistic concept for the production of Fischer-Tropsch-fuels from biomass in a size of about 200.000 to/a in Austria. Comprehensive evaluation of this concept with respect to available biomass resources, and economical and ecological benefits.

circPLAST‐mr Mechanical Recycling of Plastics: Mechanisches Recycling von Kunststoffen: From waste plastics to high‐quality and specification‐compliant recyclates

The flagship project circPLAST‐mr pursues the following 4 main objectives: (1) to identify and explore previously unused potential for mechanical plastics recycling, (2) to define and test key process steps for this on a laboratory/pilot scale, (3) to demonstrate the eco‐efficient marketability of increased recycled plastic volumes, and (4) to demonstrate the scalability of the laboratory/pilot process steps to industrial scale.

i3 - SustainableFoodManagement

It is the aim of the project to develop a model of sustainability management for a company of the meat processing industry. The management model includes strategy development, goal setting, evaluation of achievements of goals and support to the operationalisation of the model in form of an IT-system. The model is designed and implemented for the production processes of the company in year 1, and in the further years for the whole company and the value chain of the company.

Sustainable Business Planner

Further development of the established management concept business plan to the Sustainable Business Plan. Production, testing and dissemination of the holistic user-oriented IT Tool "Sustainable Business Planner" in the context of an Austrian start-up initiative.

Virtual power plants and DSM

For the cost efficient and lasting energy supply from ecological sources, wind, photovoltaic and biomass have to be integrated in existing grids. New methods for DSM and virtual power stations are investigated, to improve the control behaviour.

Monitoring Sunhouse Eferding

In course of the monitoring project the effectiveness of the energy-technical system was checked on the basis of running measuring data. The data were evaluated and, if required, the arrangements and settings of the control system were adapted. Main result is that the energy balance could have been improved explicitly whilst the monitoring process.

EnErGy Plant Weiz - Renewable energy community Business Park Energy Lane and Factory Lane Weiz

Based on the results of the exploratory study project REC-Businesspark, a demonstrator for a "renewable energy community business park" is to be developed in Weiz. The focus is on the development of innovative operating and tariff models for a redox flow storage system that is integrated into a renewable energy community.

plusenergy-FLAGSHIP: Plus-Energy office building 2.0 - the viadonau headquarters

In the course of this project, various innovations towards a "Plus-Energy Standard 2.0" are to be implemented and combined in an overall concept for the new viadonau headquarters (via donau - Österreichische Wasserstraßen-Gesellschaft m.b.H.).
