BuildReUse ‐ 100 percent re‐use and recycling in buildings with short usage cycles
Some buildings, such as supermarkets or office buildings, are often demolished and rebuilt after a few years or at least have their interiors changed, turning large quantities of building components into waste. The BuildReUse project aims to develop circular economy concepts for these buildings and to promote the necessary change in the construction industry.
solSPONGEhigh - High solar fraction by thermally activated components in an urban environment
Within this project the intensive use of thermally activated building elements (TABs) as an additional thermal storage in different buildings, with solar technologies (thermal, PV) preferred for energy supply, was investigated. The aim was to activate and use the thermal storage potential that is immanent in the building elements and thereby achieve solar coverage of the building's heat demand of nearly 100 %.
Sustainability Reporting - Guidelines for Sustainability Reporting based on reporting processes of VA Technologie and Österreichische Bundesforste
Scientific attendance of sustainability reporting processes in two partner enterprises (VA Tech and ÖBf AG). Development of the guideline "Reporting about Sustainability" based on these practical experiences.
Energy-efficient army barracks
Holistic sanitation concepts for three selected army barracks belonging to the Austrian armed forces to achieve the standard of a low-energy house. An increase in energy efficiency and corresponding models for implementation agreed with large-volume buildings with due consideration to the special conditions prevalent within the Austrian armed forces.
Renovation with passive house technology by master-builder – verified planning documentation – Guide and seminars
The project aims at an increased implementation of passive house technology by the planning as well as the operating master-builder.
"gugler! build & print triple zero" - Subproject 8: Leuchtturm gugler – Ökoeffektive Plusenergiedruckerei
On the basis of the commercial building gugler with 2140 m² useable floor area existing and 3260 m² useable floor area to be built a concept for a 100% recyclable ecoeffective building had been developed.
QB3R – Quality controlled high‐performance components consisting of 100% bio‐based resins with high potential in repair and recycling
The QB3R project aims to develop an epoxy resin system having a 100% bio‐based carbon content. The QB3R resin will be processable with various different manufacturing techniques resulting in high performance components for long‐lasting material goods.
Development and evaluation of criteria and methods for the qualitity assurance of thermally treated hardwood
The goal of this project is the devepolment and evaluation of criteria and measurement methods for the quality assurance of thermally treated hardwood. They are to be implemented directly into the production process of Thermowood to increase the resource efficiency and the customer acceptance.
Highlights of Factory of Tomorrow, presented on www.nawaro.com
Dissemination of the subprogram Factory of tomorrow's highlights in the field of biopolymer, composites and building material on www.nawaro.com (Information pool for biological materials). Additional current information about biological materials in articles on-line. Networking of relevant companies with the help of a cooperation forum and a database.
Development of a moulding technique for wood-based composites for the production of biogenic SiC-Ceramics.
New methods to produce SiC- ceramics based on wood based materials were developed and the samples developed were characterized according to their properties. The main objectives dimension stability and carbon utilization was analyzed.
Plus-Energy-Campus - Energy-flexible Positive Energy District with "Living Lab"
The project explored paths to a sustainable, future-proof Positive Energy-District (PED) in the area surrounding the location of the University of Applied Sciences Vienna (FH-Technikum Wien). The feasibility of a new university building as a Plus-Energy teaching building had been examined in detail to prepare its implementation. Central innovation contents are the energetic flexibilization of the new building and the quarter as well as the conception of the Plus-Energy building as a "Living Lab".
Booklet issued by Building of Tomorrow with about 20 practical passive house thermal bridges free connection details for large-volume residential buildings
In particular, for buildings with very low energy consumption on heating the influence of heat bridges have a special value. Since in passive house construction a largely heat bridge free execution is required, the most frequent and significant heat bridges are collected in a booklet.

Quality criteria for the Building of Tomorrow
Development and implementation of contributions to the quality control of innovative technologies in the areas of building services and insulation that are derived substantially from HAUSderZukunft findings.
AIA4ALL - development of open, modular and automatable employer’s information requirements (EIR) and BIM execution plan (BEP)
The Employer's Information Requirements - EIR (German: AIA) - serves the client to define goals and use cases for a BIM-based construction project. The aim of this project is to create a modular, machine-readable AIA that can be seamlessly integrated into the tool landscape of openBIM projects. This is done by developing an open platform for creating use cases for the AIA.
Symbiose-4-I&C - Optimal decentralized hybrid storage technologies among different energy systems -4-Industry and Commerce
The project Symbiose-4-I&C analysed the coupling of existing energy networks/-carriers, established on centralized energy network nodes or directly next to a consumer (households, industry and commerce) and the benefits of applying decentralized storage technologies. The optimal position, dimension and the right storage and conversion technology and an optimal energy wide operation of larger consumer groups were estimated for an urban model region.
Development of a comprehensive procedure within the design of high-speed-cutting processes in consideration of environmental protection and occupational health aspects
In the metal working industry high-speed-cutting (HSC) in connection with minimal quantity cooling-lubrication promises a high potential for saving process materials. On the one hand costs of purchase and disposal of metal working fluids (MWF) decrease, on the other hand the reduction of dermal diseases and emissions of MWF-dusts are expected.
