The energy demand calculated in the design phase often differs from measured values in the actual building operation. This projects reviews building automation and operation by presenting a solution how to assess energy efficiency of control strategies in the fields of air conditioning systems, concrete core activation and free cooling. The results are implemented in the demonstration building "Post am Rochus".

Demonstration building of the eco²building system: First passive house prefabricated wood building system for commercial and industrial buildings
The EU funded "eco2building" construction system in a timber-frame based modular design represents a systematic approach for energy efficient commercial and industrial buildings. The object of the eco²building demonstration project - the logistics centre in passive-house quality for "Eine Welt Handel AG" - in Niklasdorf was to optimize the planning and construction processes and prepare for the market launch of the eco²building construction system. Accompanying research monitored and disseminated the experience.

e80^3-Buildings - Sub project 3: Development of technology and components
The main objective of the key project "e80^3" was to develop high-performance renovation concepts focusing on plus-energy-buildings. Afterwards these concepts were realized in at least one or two demonstration-projects.
IEA SHC Task 55: Integrating Large SHC Systems into DHC Networks
Despite the large potential for integrating large solar thermal plants into district heating and cooling networks, the share of solar heat worldwide is below 1%. The aim of this project was to analyse the technical, economic, and regulatory barriers that hinder a faster market development of such systems, and to propose solutions to support the growing heat market. The results (roadmaps, data, information) are available in the form of fact sheets.
"Leitbilder" in "energy regions" or how to co-ordinate technical change
In three Austrian regions, which call themselves "energy regions", the processes leading to the formulation of common visions or "leitbilder" is analysed and the impact is assessed such "leitbilder" can have on technical change on the regional scale. Development of basic principles and proposals for highly recyclable constructions. A catalogue with main principles of recyclable designing with a particular focus on material inherent bonding and joint techniques as well as a selection of constructions including ecological benchmarks, calculation of building physics plus costs was created.
