PRoBateS - Potentials of planning and building legislation for energetically sustainable city structures
The aims of this project are to analyse planning and building legislation in order to identify barriers, potentials and suitable courses of action for energy-orientated policy measures. Specific policy recommendations are developed with a view to increasing the sustainability of energy-related city structures. For these purposes the project combines two different disciplinary approaches: a thorough legal analysis and a spatial structure and quantitative impact assessment.
FM.Comfort/FM.Ware - Software for optimizing the use of energie and other resources in the virtual house
The expert system FM.Comfort/FM.Ware realizes the so called virtual house (vh). The virtual house is the computer model of a real building. This computer model supports the optimization of the use of energy and other resources by analysis of the life and work habits of the residents and the positive influence on inhabitants-behaviours (user motivation).
Optimisation of ecological construction components for industrial serial production of precast elements
The project focused on passive house elements from straw and clay. Special interest was paid at a novel straw insulation as well as at an efficient drying process of the clay. Sustainability of the building materials was a very important aspect within the project.

Demonstration of the way to redevelop a home of the 19th century to passive house standard in consideration of moisture process and the use of vacuum insulation.
Passive cooling concepts for office and administrative buildings using earth-to-air and earth-to-fluid heat exchangers
Analysis of existing passive cooling concepts, examination of various other passive cooling concepts and a comparison with conventional air conditioning systems. The elaboration of practice-oriented tools for the planning and implementation of the passive cooling concepts selected.
New Standards for Old Houses. Sustainable Renovation Concepts for Houses on Estates Built Between the Wars and Post-War
The many housing estates of detached houses in Austria built in the times of economic crisis between the wars and post-war as part of publicly funded housing programmes are the starting point for this research project. The aim is to offer detailed guidelines with basic planning principles for the renovation of these housing estates with detached houses, aiming to reach the standard of a low-energy house or a passive house.

The energy concept led Gugler in frame of the conversion and expansion of the company towards plus-energy standard. Significant measures ware a consequent maximum reduction of the energy demand, optimal utilisation of industrial waste-heat, maximum consumption of on-site energy sources, integrated energy production, ecologic load management with comprehensive response- and storage-techniques.

LEKOECOS - combined economic-ecological life cycle assessment model
The consumption of ecological and economic resources over the whole life cycle is supposed to be anticipated and optimised in the design process of buildings and refurbishments. A combined life cycle assessment model together with an economic-ecological base element catalogue considering the klima:aktiv criteria was developed based on the structure of the life cycle cost model LEKOS and the ecological valuation tool Ecosoft.
1000 passive houses in Austria - 2nd documentation period 2004 - 2005
2nd documentation period of the joint project of IG Passivhaus Österreich under the programme line "Building of tomorrow", an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) to set up a detailed network documentation on a representative cross-section of all passive houses in Austria.
