thermocollect: realisation of a plus energy building by a solar active facade system
The project demonstrates the application of a solar active facade system in the course of the renovation of an existing building in order to achieve the plus-energy standard. Moreover, the effectiveness of the system will be demonstrated on new buildings and transparent components as well. The final outcome will be a manual for the application and implementation of the façade system focusing on the segment of specialists and skilled labour.
Urban consolidation Lehen - Subproject 1: Fundamental study for an intelligent e-monitoring
The goal was to refine the energy monitoring for residential buildings as well as to find possibilities to visualise the energy consumption and continuously compare it with the "target consumption" in order to get a signal in time and thereby to be able to communicate it to the users. Different monitoring systems were investigated and the experience was evaluated.
4th Industry Workshop "Advanced Lighting Solutions for Retrofitting Buildings"
29. September 2014
Fukuoka, Japan
Topic of this workshop was retrofitting of lighting solutions in non-residential buildings
e3building - ecology, economy, efficiency: An International Network for the Entire Building Industry

Embedded in the EUREKA initiative PREPARE e3building serves as a network for the know-how exchange between building and construction industry, researchers and the funding programme on a national as well as an international level.

Measures for Minimisation of Rebound-Effects Concerning Residential Building Renovation (MARESI)

Development of a pragmatic assessment scheme applicable to building practice for the impact of building products on human health
Facilitated decision-making procedures for sustainable refurbishment of residential properties

Participation in the refurbishment process: Monitoring of concrete refurbishment projects and development of guidelines to optimise the planning, information and decision-making processes in the course of the refurbishment of residential properties
monitorPlus. Monitoring of pilot projects of the Austrian RTD-program Building of Tomorrow Plus
All pilot projects of "Building of Tomorrow Plus" had to be evaluated in a common monitoring project on energy efficiency, user's acceptance, and the integrated building performance. monitorPlus documented and assessed the results of this evaluation.
Stakeholder process of the initiative "Reference architecture for secure Smart Grids in Austria"
The project worked out the development of a smart grids reference architecture for Austria under involvement of all actors. Based on technological-scientific elements a process which met the requirements of stakeholders like operators of infrastructure, industry and also public agencies had been worked out to achieve nationally accepted and internationally orientated reference architecture.
Model Predictive Control of Thermally Active Building Systems and Monitoring of two Test-Boxes
A robust, predictive controller which utilises weather forecast data to control thermally active building systems had been designed, researched and assessed in terms of energy efficiency and comfort compared to standard controllers, especially for cooling purposes. Simulations and real measurements using two "Test-Boxes" with thermally active building systems which are constructed and built for this purpose were used to analyse energy efficiency and comfort. Low complexity and transparency of methods and solutions should allow for transferability of all results to guarantee maximum usability for similar applications.
Gründerzeit with future: Innovative Modernisation of Wilhelminian style "Gründerzeit" Buildings
This flagship project is focusing on buildings from the late 19th and early 20th century ("Gründerzeit") with typically decorated façades.
SHC 2012 - International Conference on Solar Heating and Cooling for Buildings and Industry
9th - 11th July 2012
InterContinental San Francisco Hotel
San Francisco, US
SHC 2012 is the first of this new series of scientific and policy conferences on solar heating and cooling. The conference offers a discussion platform for project results and progress of the IEA SHC Programme´s work, but also targets a much wider audience of the solar heating and cooling community.
"gugler! build & print triple zero" - subproject 9: Monitoring Gugler - Monitoring, evaluation, optimization GUGLER
The project objective is the measurement of relevant building values (energy consumption, ...), the evaluation of these values compared with the intended objectives and the optimization of the system based on the measured data. As a special innovation, monitoring the storage of alternatively generated electricity using photovoltaic and wind energy in the form of compressed air must be considered.
Criteria for Sustainable Urban Development - Tool for the Development and Assessment of urban brownfields

Based on experiences made with the projects "solarCity" and "Eco Building" resp. "Total Quality Assessment" the project will define qualitative and quantitative criteria for sustainable urban development considering Greater Linz as example.
CIT City in Transition - A Model for Comprehensive Renewal Processes to Increase the Value of Urban Areas

By means of pilot projects in two urban areas comprehensive goals and criteria, assessment approaches and a code of practice for sustainable urban renewal are elaborated jointly with decision makers and experts in urban development.
AR-HES-B – Energy storage, production and recovery of valuable substances in wastewater treatment plants
AR-HES-B develops technologically based concepts of municipal wastewater treatment plants in order to convert them from energy consumers into a hybrid energy provider, energy storage and a provider of resources. The concept enables wastewater plants to turn into an important platform in the regional energy and mass transfer.
EnergyCityConcepts - Methods and concepts for the implementation of sustainable energy systems in cities
Two concrete model regions (small city Gleisdorf and urban city quarter Salzburg-Schallmoos) will be developed and tested using new methodical approaches (interdisciplinary urban and regional energy planning, modeling and simulation). Therefore, it is aimed to substantiate scenarios and concepts for the implementation of defined targets on technical, ecological and economic criteria.
City Dialog - Evaluation of future research topics for the "city of the future" through stakeholder dialog.
The integration of key stakeholder views allowed an extensive evaluation and prioritisation of research topics for the "city of the future". The discussion had been organised in workshops with stakeholder groups (public administration, science & research, residents).
