SHC 2012 is the first of this new series of scientific and policy conferences on solar heating and cooling. The conference offers a discussion platform for project results and progress of the IEA SHC Programme´s work, but also targets a much wider audience of the solar heating and cooling community.

Builders and developers of residential buildings in low energy and passive house standard were invited to an academically moderated direct exchange of experiences, to turn them into competent users of new technologies.

Manage_GeoCity - Development of a method for the coordinated management of geothermal energy in urban areas

Based on the urban region Graz a method had been developed for the coordinated use and management of shallow geothermal energy for heating and cooling as well as seasonal heat storage in urban regions. Ground water flow, different geologic conditions, heating and cooling demand, heat input from solar collectors and industrial waste heat and the possibilities of seasonal heat storage in the subsurface were considered.

Transferproject: Professional strawbale building - "Virtual building-site", exhibition and instruction material

Strawbale-workshops are considered as the best way to inseminate this ecological building-technique. The "virtual building site" has some decisive advantages over the common situation: it does not depend on the weather, allows the comparative study of different constructing methods and can, as a permanent installation, be used as an exhibition.

Monitoring and comparison of performance of thermally activated building components in two similarly built, inhabited detached houses with different energy sources (wind and solar power). Therefore, in order to assist a smooth implementation of the new passive housing technique and begin the corresponding feedback mechanisms, a specific KMU "quality and incentive model" should be launched. The interrelationship of this model is designed with the property developer as well as the user in mind and aims for lasting "behavior modification" in energy and operational expense consumption.

Oekosan 09 - International symposium for high-quality energetic renovation of large-scale buildings

From October 7 to 9, 2009 the AEE INTEC has organized an international symposium "Ökosan 09". The emphasis of the symposium was the communication of (partial) results of running and closed cooperation projects by leading technical experts dealing with the retrofit of large-scale buildings.
