Fundamentals on the development of ecological high class insulation composites made from natural plant fibres

Fundamentals on an insulation made from flax and hemp fibres which can be directly pargeted on the outer wall of a building had been developed. Only ecological glues and additives were used. Variations of the produc­tion and the additives optimized the technical properties. In addition flame proofing and thermal transfer were tested. After the laboratory tests a prototype finished the project.

InnoGOK – Investigation of the energetic and ecological usability of solar radiation on urban spaces and paths

Examination of the suitability of street space or other paved or not paved surfaces in urban areas for promoting renewable heat from solar radiation. Thus offers a high potential for increasing energy efficiency and conserving resources in urban contexts. Besides, the dissipation of heat from large solar-heated surfaces promises to prevent urban heat islands.

Print and media production at the media and communications company gugler GmbH are currently being optimized according to Cradle to Cradle (C2C) criteria. The evolution of the low energy house and the passive house standards to the plus energy standard results in a clear reduction of green house gas emissions as well as the primary energy input. GreenPlusSchool@urban - Highly efficient facade and roof greening in combination with PV; optimal solution for energy efficiency in overall environmental consideration

In this project, different building-greening systems and plant/substrate types, combined with various PV modules, had been examined on a Viennese school. The influence on the hygrothermal behaviour of the building, energy-saving potential, humidity, shading, noise reduction, water retention and heat island effect are being scientifically explained. The students of the school will also be involved.

Based on a literature and technology review this projects aimed to document and demonstrate already available and reasonable concepts for the implementation of electricity networks with alternating and direct current in modern office buildings. Focus of the study was to assess the feasibility in general and the energy efficiency potential in particular but it also documents necessary technical equipment and expected advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, important research questions for energy supply, energy distribution and application of direct current technologies were formulated.
