IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Biomass Combustion (Working Period 2022 - 2024)
Biomass combustion is an important technology for providing renewable energy worldwide. Almost half of the EU's energy consumption is used for heat, which, among other technologies, can be provided by biomass combustion in a climate-friendly manner. It is therefore a key technology for achieving national and international climate and energy goals. This project shall ensure the exchange of information on relevant topics in order to support the success of Austrian actors from industry and research.
IEA ISGAN Working Group 9: Flexibility Markets - Development and Implementation (Working Period 2021 - 2023)
ISGAN Working Group 9 focuses on flexibilities in the power system and related market mechanisms. Main work areas include the integration of trading with flexibilities (redispatch), investigation of the needs of different market participants, identification and definition of flexibilities and their characteristics, development and scaling of interoperable flexibility markets, consumer-oriented understanding of flexibilities and the avoidance of stability or security losses due to diversity loss.
IEA Bioenergy Task 40: Deployment of biobased value chains (Working period 2022 - 2024)
Bioenergy Task 40 traditionally focused on international trade and supply chains of biomass for bioenergy. Starting in 2018, the systems view was broadened, also to better meet Austrian requirements. The supply chain focus was maintained, but with a broader premise: The establishment of bio-based value chains for a sustainable and fair bioeconomy.
Performance Envelopes of Blade Heating Systems
27. March 2023
Åre, SE
The workshop focuses on concepts and methodology for the performance assessment of blade heating systems. Discussions and expert elicitation shall be initiated along presentations of the individual work packages of the subtask of IEA Wind TCP Task 54: Cold climate wind.
IEA HEV Task 45 - Electrified Roadways (E-Roads) Workshop #5
09. - 10. October 2023
Södertälje, SE
In the bi-annual meeting the participating countries will gather information, gain first-hand knowledge of how this technology is progressing and identify specific areas that may be of critical interes for further research.
IEA Bioenergy Task 33: Gasification of Biomass and Waste (Working Period 2019 - 2021)
The main aim of IEA Bioenergy Task 33 is the international as well as national information exchange and networking on thermochemical gasification of biomass and waste. The focus is on exchange of information regarding R&D programmes in area of biomass and waste materials gasification, commercial facilities and the marketing chance for gasification facilities to identify and avoid technical and non-technical hurdles.
IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Biomass Combustion and Co-firing (Working Period 2019 - 2021)
Austrian participation in IEA Bioenergy Task 32 "Biomass Combustion and Cofiring" during the working period 2019 - 2021 and participation in defined task priorities, events and projects that are relevant for Austria. International and national dissemination and networking activities to exchange information and promote cooperation.
IEA Bioenergy Task 44: Flexible Bioenergy and System Integration (Working Period 2019 - 2022)
Goal of Task 44 is to analyse bioenergy solutions that can provide flexible resources in a low carbon energy system. The objective is to improve understanding on the types, quality and status of flexible bioenergy, and identification of barriers and future development needs in the context of the entire energy system (power, heat and transport).
Modernising Energy Efficiency through Digitalisation - Webinar: Total Energy Model of Network connected Devices
28. April 2021
Online, Paris, FR
The Electronic Devices and Network Annex of the IEA - 4E Technology Collaboration Program is focused on the increase in energy use caused by connecting everyday devices to the internet, as well as on the energy-saving benefits from the "digitalisation" of these devices. EDNA has developed a quantitative global model of the "Total energy use" of connected devices. This webinar focus is the model and some scenarios.
IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Biomass Combustion (Working Period 2025 - 2027)
Biomass combustion is an important technology for the provision of renewable energy worldwide. In addition to the climate-friendly supply of heat and electricity, biomass combustion offers market-ready solutions for net-negative emissions (carbon capture technologies). It therefore represents a key technology for achieving climate targets. This project aims to ensure the exchange of information on relevant topics and thus support the success of Austrian players from industry and research.
IEA Bioenergy Tasks 42: Biorefining in the circular economy (Working Period 2025 - 2027)
Biorefineries are sustainable production technologies for the process-integrated manufacturing of a wide range of products, such as food, animal feed, materials, fuels, chemicals and energy from renewable resources. For the transformation of industry biorefinery technologies are making an essential contribution to the implementation of a circular economy and climate protection. The task aims to promote the commercialisation and market launch of biorefinery technologies.
