IEA ISGAN Annex 5: Smart Grids International Research Facility Network (SIRFN). (Working period 2019-2021)
The Smart Grids International Research Facility Network (SIRFN) aims at improving the implementation of Smart Grids technologies by collaboration between smart grid testing facilities, test beds, and large-scale demonstrations. The focus during the working period 2019-2020 was laid on the implementation of extended interoperability tests and innovative laboratory testing methods for decentralised energy resources. By active participation, Austria’s position and leading role on the forefront of international Smart Grids development was strengthened.
IEA ISGAN Annex 7: Smart Grids Transition (Workingperiod 2017-2020)
ISGAN Annex 7 deals primarily with institutional and socio-technical issues in connection with the transition of the energy system, with smart grids at its core. It thus aims to bundle international experience and interdisciplinary research activities on smart grids, to process them and to make them usable for policy makers and stakeholders.

IEA ISGAN Annex 3: Benefit/Cost Analyses and Tools of Smart Grids
Together with experts from 11 countries, the EI-JKU has analysed cost-benefit models and developed proposals for their adaptation and further development. In the course of the work, the EI-JKU dealt in particular with two questions: how such an evaluation model can be adapted to Austrian conditions and which socio-economic factors influence the question of whether an end consumer emerges as a winner or loser from Smart Grid-based functionalities.

The International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) aims in enhancing the knowledge about Smart Grid Technologies and accelerating the development and the international deployment. The main objective of the Austrian contribution in IEA ISGAN Annex 6 is to build up knowledge and long term concepts for the development of an intelligent and integrated electricity system, with the focus on the interaction of distribution and transmission networks, including the lead of the related subtask within the Annex.
Design and operation of ventilation in low energy residences - A survey on code requirements and building reality from six European countries and China

IEA 4E EDNA: Policy Brief Januar 2020 – The Role of Connected Devices in the Digitalisation of the Energy System
Die Digitalisierung des Energiesektors ist eng verknüpft mit der zunehmenden Anzahl an netzwerkverbundenen Geräten in Haushalten, wie z. B. Thermostate oder Leuchtmittel. Einerseits kommt es dadurch zu einem weltweit steigenden Energieverbrauch, andererseits können Geräte die Netzwerkverbundenheit nutzen, um Energie einzusparen. Der Policy Brief benennt und definiert in diesem Zusammenhang die dazu erforderlichen Funktionen jener „smarten“ Geräte sowie Barrieren bei deren Verbreitung. Der Policy Brief schließt mit Empfehlungen zum Abbau der Barrieren ab.

Der Vortrag auf der 70. Konferenz der ISE (International Society of Electrochemistry) in Durban, South Afrika, behandelte das Verhalten von Polymerelektrolyt-Brennstoffzellen während alternierenden Lastwechseln. Die dazugehörigen Messungen wurden so gewählt, dass sie das Verhalten von Brennstoffzellen im automobilen Bereich möglichst genau simulieren.
