Dissemination of results of the research initiative "Building of tomorrow" for two specific target groups - master builder and installer - implementation in further vocational training concepts
Sustainable ventilation systems in multi story residential buildings in the conflict areas of hygiene and costs
The goal of this project was to develop guidelines for hygienic and cost-efficient mechanical ventilation systems in residential buildings, in which maintenance and cleaning demands are described. These guidelines are based on existing literature as well as practical experience of the property owners, finally they are based on results of hygienic measurements in existing ventilation systems conducted in this research project.
Biotope City - construction manual for the green city of the future
"Biotope City" is an overall concept for the implementation of comprehensive urban greening with the aim of using the regenerative mechanisms of nature. With this approach, quality of life is to be comprehensively, sustainably and cost-effectively increased and resilience against extreme weather events in cities will be improved. The project aims to generate realistic components of a "construction manual" for the green city of the future, which are generalizable and transferable.
win wi[e]n: block development ground floor zone: Optimization of the Viennese block renewal programm as a tool for a sustainable development of street level and open (public) spaces of urban fabric
Development of the Viennese Block Renewal Program with a special focus on the ground floor zone of historical urban fabric (on the basis of the case study Block Renewal Area Ilgplatz, Vienna): sustainable restructuring and reusing of the blocks at ground level, including courtyards and street spaces- as a comprehensive planning approach.
EnergyCityConcepts - Methods and concepts for the implementation of sustainable energy systems in cities
Two concrete model regions (small city Gleisdorf and urban city quarter Salzburg-Schallmoos) will be developed and tested using new methodical approaches (interdisciplinary urban and regional energy planning, modeling and simulation). Therefore, it is aimed to substantiate scenarios and concepts for the implementation of defined targets on technical, ecological and economic criteria.
GreenDeal4Real - Improving the thermal comfort in mixed-use areas through cost-effective green infrastructure
The aim of the project is to avoid overheating in summer by using innovative greening measures in the mixed residential and commercial area Aspernstraße/Lavaterstraße. The development of a guideline should facilitate the realisation of climate-sensitive projects from strategy to actual implementation and ensure a high degree of transferability to other areas.
Know-How-Plus - Options and constraints of building renovation towards plus energy building standard
Aim of this research project is to identify the realizable reduction potential of energy consumption and CO2 emissions by refurbishment of the Austrian building stock towards plus energy building standard. Furthermore a construction-oriented manual will be supplied for interdisciplinary planning.
Build4Climate - Demonstration building with a climate room concept at the Innovation Quarter Lavanttal in Carinthia
A new train station is being built near the exit portal of the future Koralm railway tunnel in Carinthia, in connection with a CO2-neutral technology park. The innovative entrance building of the newly developed area will be implemented as a frontrunner with a 'climate room' concept based on thermal component activation and extensive use of renewable energy sources.
INN'FIT4UM - Innsbruck "Fit4UrbanMission" - climate neutral Innsbruck 2030
Cities are the place where decarbonization strategies for energy, transport and buildings intersect. A few years ago, the municipality of Innsbruck set up a Smart City Group consisting of staff from the municipality, IIG, IKB and IVB to address this challenge. The goal of INN'F4UM is to develop a step-by-step plan to achieve climate neutrality for the city by 2030, building on an up-to-date representation of energy and resource flows together with the University of Innsbruck.
EM Städte - Monitoring and evaluation of urban energy flows
In the first phase of the project, the data source of the energy statistics will be analyzed. Based on the findings of the analysis a methodology on build up regional energy balances will be developed. The methodology will be integrated into the Senflusk tool and tested on five reference cities in Austria.
LifeCycle Tower - Energy efficient prefabricated multi-storey timber houses
Based on the results of previous research projects, the project at hand deals with the development of a wooden prefabricated module construction for energy efficient office buildings with up to 20 storeys. This sustainable system ensures cost certainty through the whole life cycle of the building.
VERTICALurbanFACTORY
The project researches possibilities and potentials of highly efficient use of space through modern concepts of "stacked" functions and vertical production.
CELL4LIFE - Reversible SOCs as a link between electricity, heat and gas networks to increase the self-sufficiency and resilience of neighbourhoods
A system consisting of a solid oxide fuel cell and a Machine Learning-based control system for increasing efficiency and minimizing degradation is being developed. As a link between all energy supply networks, the system is intended to increase the self-sufficiency and resilience of plus-energy districts.
ProKlim+ - Use of Model Predictive Control to optimize solar power consumption in case of increased energy efficiency.
Using weather forecast for building automation can help improving the energy efficiency of buildings and, thus, saving energy. In the project ProKlim+ the forecast of solar radiation will be used to optimize the building automation to satisfy the needs of the building users, and at the same time to minimize the energy demand on the one hand and to maximize the consumption of self-produced energy on the other hand.
CoolAIR - Predictive control of natural nighttime ventilation and daylight-optimized shading for passive building cooling
Natural nighttime ventilation and daylight-optimized shadowing are high potential approaches to efficiently and economical cool buildings. Nevertheless, the full potential cannot be acquired, since, if at all, such behavior is manually initiated by users. Goal of this project is the development of an automated, self-learning system that can assess the full cooling capabilities and establish an alternative to conventional air conditioning systems.
New4Old - New energies for old buildings
The project "New4Old - New energy for old buildings - Promoting the integration of RES & RUE measures in historic buildings" aims to promote the integration of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies into historic buildings, and to create a European-wide network of Renewable Energy Houses in the different Member States of the European Union.
