Serial refurbishment for buildings in timber construction
Refurbishment of single- and two-familiy houses in timber construction in Austria has a large CO2-saving potential. To meet the special requirements for the refurbishment of timber constructions, a concept for the renovation to passive house respectively plus-energy house standard with special focus on ecologic construction materials was developed in this project.

Services for a comprehensive ecological renovation should comprise advice, design and construction as well as "green" building assessment and innovative financing models. Such services are developed together with companies in the construction business and tested in pilot projects.
BIGMODERN - Subprojekt 11: Dissemination der Projektergebnisse
Subprojekt 11 ist Teil des Leitprojekts BIGMODERN und verfolgt das Ziel, die Leitprojektergebnisse umfassend und zielgerichtet zu verbreiten. Im Forschungsprojekt wurden modellhafte Sanierungskonzepte für den Schulgebäudebestand entwickelt. Die Konzepte umfassen Maßnahmenkataloge zur Implementierung nachhaltiger Bautechnologien und Fallbeispiele für die Neuorganisation von Gebäuden verschiedener Typologien.
Mechanische Fensterlüftungsanlagen für die Althaussanierung
Analyse und Implementierungsmöglichkeit von alternativen Fensterlüftungsanlagen mit Fokus auf thermische Sanierung von Altbauten. Im Rahmen einer Technologierunde wurden die recherchierten und aufbereiteten Lüftungssysteme eine Gruppe Experten präsentiert. Zielsetzung war es, die Lüftungstechnologien anhand verschiedenster Aspekte zu diskutieren und zu jedem System eine SWOT-Analyse zu erarbeiten.

NEST international - New standards for old houses international
The main goal was to raise awareness for energetic renovations of settlement houses due to the handbook "Neue Standards für alte Häuser" in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In doing so, the refurbishment potential has been identified in the target countries, experiences exchanged and information transferred. Contacts to the relevant target groups have been established.
BIGMODERN - Subproject 11: Dissemination of project results
The project is part of the flagship project BIGMODERN. It aims at disseminating all relevant results of BIGMODERN in a comprehensive and targeted way. It addresses different target groups, such as decision makers inside the BIG Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft, various users of federal buildings and other real estate companies nationally and internationally.
WHISCERS. Whole House In-Situ Carbon & Emission Reduction Solution
Whiscers ist ein System für die Installation von Innenwanddämmung in Bestandsgebäude, ohne dass der Nutzer für diese Umbauphase ausziehen muss. Technologisch geht es um das Bauaufmaß der inneren Wandgeometrie mit Hilfe eines Laser-Gerätes, das eine schnelle und hochgenaue Messung ermöglicht. Die Informationen werden elektronisch aufbereitet und auf eine Computer-gesteuerte Off-Site-Schneidemaschine geschickt, die eine schnelle, präzise und passgenaue Fertigung der benötigten Innenwandelemente ermöglicht.
Sanierung Gründerzeitgebäude Eberlgasse auf Passivhausstandard
Anhand des typischen Gründerzeithauses, 1020 Wien Eberlgasse 3, wurde gezeigt, dass mit den heute zur Verfügung stehenden technischen Möglichkeiten Passivhaus-Standard (Definition nach Passivhausinstitut Darmstadt) auch in der Sanierung erzielbar ist.

Whiscers is a system for installing internal wall insulation with minimal mess, whilst the resident remains in the property. It involves measuring the walls in the property using a laser device that enables fast and highly accurate measurement. Information is then sent electronically to a computer controlled off-site cutting machine that is rapid, precise and mess-free.

IEA SHC Task 37: Advanced Housing Renovation with Solar & Conservation
Development of advanced renovation concepts for residential buildings. For the housing segments with the greatest energy saving potentials strategies for increased market penetration of advanced housing renovation are investigated. Analysing outstanding renovation projects shall lead to technically and economically robust and sustainable concepts for housing renovation.

Das Forschungsprojekt untersuchte die Wohnformen älterer Menschen und trägt zur Entwicklung neuer, gemeinschaftlicher Wohnformen für Ältere bei. Fragen zum demografischen Wandel und zu ökonomischen und ökologischen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit wurden untersucht.
