e80^3 - Subprojekt 5: Monitoring und Verbreitung
Inhalt dieses Subprojektes waren energietechnische und baubiologische Begleituntersuchungen zur Evaluierung und Qualitätssicherung des hochwertig sanierten Demoprojektes zum Plusenergiegebäude in Kapfenberg. Dabei wurde auch die Benutzerakzeptanz vor, während und nach der Sanierung erhoben und für Nachfolgeprojekte aufbereitet.Die ökologische Qualität der Gebäude durch die Materialwahl bzw. Maßnahmen während der Errichtung sowie in der anschließenden Nutzung des Gebäudes werden mit Hilfe des TQB-Planungs- und Bewertungstools beurteilt.
Thermisch optimierte Balkonsanierung (THERM-opti-BALKON)
Bei der thermischen Sanierung von Gebäuden stellen frei auskragende Balkone ein besonderes Problem dar. Das Projekt hatte zum Ziel, die Grundlagen für die Entwicklung eines praxistauglichen und kostengünstigen Befestigungssystems zu schaffen, das die thermisch entkoppelte Wiedererrichtung der Balkone im Zuge der Sanierung erlaubt und damit die Effizienz der Wärmedämmmaßnahme deutlich verbessert.

(Nudging-)Maßnahmen bei nachhaltigen Sanierungsprojekten
Auf der Grundlage einer soziologischen Kontextanalyse von ausgewählten Projekten der Programme „Haus der Zukunft“ und „Stadt der Zukunft“ und einer quantitativen Online-Erhebung unter NutzerInnen von Wohnobjekten werden unter verhaltensökonomischen Gesichtspunkten die relevantesten, durch Umbau- bzw. Sanierungsmaßnahmen verursachten Störfaktoren zusammengefasst und (Nudging-)Maßnahmen antizipiert.

Entwicklung eines baubiologisch hochwertigen Wärmedämmverbundsystems auf Basis von Schilf
Für die Außendämmung wurden Wärmedämm-Verbundsysteme (WDVS) entwickelt, die Schilfrohr als Dämmstoff enthalten. Auch für die Innendämmung wurden Dämmsysteme auf Basis von Schilf (mit optionaler Wandheizung) entwickelt. Ein Sanierungskonzept für die Anwendung eines Schilf-Wärmedämmsystems an einem Altbau wurde erstellt.
School vent cool - Ventilation, cooling and strategies for high performance school renovations
Based on a building typology, strategies for prefabrication for high-quality thermic-energetic renovation of school buildings were developed. New solutions for ventilation systems to achieve good air quality and shading systems were analysed and tested. The "School vent cool" method for renovation of schools has been developed.

High-quality refurbishment - Designing quality standards for the refurbishment of municipal buildings
Designing quality standards for ecological refurbishment (based on E. Panzhauser's proposals, 2001); applying them to characteristic types of buildings systematically selected in diverse municipalities; the achieved results shall serve as good practice examples for future refurbishment and as basis of discussion on subsidy regulations.
BIGMODERN - Sustainable refurbishment standards of federal buildings constructed between 1950 and 1980
The project aims at developing sustainability and climate protection criteria for the refurbishment of federal buildings of the postwar period. These criteria will be tested for their practical suitability within the framework of demonstration projects. Subsequently, these criteria will be defined as fundamental guiding principles in the planning and building processes for all future BIG retrofit projects.

IDsolutions - Solutions for the refurbishment within existing building stock with interior insulation
The refurbishment of existing building stock demands solutions within single units. Interior insulation is a suitable technology. The challenge is to bring multiple demands and requirements together to create optimal solutions. Therefore it's necessary to arrange individual system components to form working model refurbishment solutions. The development of such solutions is the aim of the project. Not only durability and quality is to be ensured, but also user acceptance. Increasing the rate of refurbishments is the overall aim of the project.

Aim of this research project is to identify the realizable reduction potential of energy consumption and CO2 emissions by refurbishment of the Austrian building stock towards plus energy building standard. Furthermore a construction-oriented manual will be supplied for interdisciplinary planning.
Development of high quality ecological solutions for thermal insulation systems on the basis of reed
Exterior and interior insulation systems containing reed as insulation material were developed. The solutions integrate insulation material, fastening and plaster (as well as optional heating for the interior insulation). A concept for the renovation of an old building using a reed insulation system was developed.
