Das Projekt beschäftigte sich mit dem Ziel einer möglichst dezentralen Eigenenergieversorgung auf Basis von erneuerbaren Energieformen. Die Kombinationsmöglichkeiten von Solarthermie, Photovoltaik und Wärmepumpe werden tiefgehend analysiert und der Eigenstromverbrauch durch Ausnutzung des Gebäudes als Kurzzeitwärmespeicher maximiert. Im Sinne der Verbrauchsoptimierung sollen mehrere Maßnahmen gesetzt und die Wirkung auf den Energieverbrauch wirtschaftlich bewertet werden.

Pallets never pall - Development of the Pallet House to series-production readiness
The winning project "Pallet House" of the EU-wide competition GAU:DI in 2007 consists of 800 (used) pallets. It has been exhibited in a scale 1:1 at the Biennale in Venice 2008 and has been developed for mass production within this project. Therefore, two exemplary scenarios were developed: (temporary) construction at Vienna's Urban Lakeside in Aspern and the construction of a low-cost building in South Africa.

MOTIVE – Modeling, Optimizing, and technical integration of Vacuum-Glazing-Elements
This project addressed the development of construction details for the implementation of vacuum glazing panels in new windows. In this project such constructions (form of frame, thermal bridges, structural aspects, mounting of glass) were explored via empirical experiments and via simulation. As an outcome, a mock-up was constructed, and the findings were documented in a comprehensive document.

The energy concept led Gugler in frame of the conversion and expansion of the company towards plus-energy standard. Significant measures ware a consequent maximum reduction of the energy demand, optimal utilisation of industrial waste-heat, maximum consumption of on-site energy sources, integrated energy production, ecologic load management with comprehensive response- and storage-techniques.

On the basis of the commercial building gugler with 2140 m² useable floor area existing and 3260 m² useable floor area to be built a concept for a 100% recyclable ecoeffective building will be developed.
Zero Carbon Village - Energieautarke Siedlung, Industrielle Forschung
Industrielle Forschung in den Bereichen erneuerbare Energie und Energieeffizienz als Basis für die Entwicklung und Demonstration einer völlig CO2 neutralen, energieautarken Siedlung in vorgefertigter Modulbauweise. Zusammenführen von drei Forschungslinien zu einer Systemlösung: (1) Modulare Serienfertigung von "Zero Carbon Häusern", (2) Energieautarkie der Gebäude, (3) Anwendung energieeffizienter, nachhaltiger Baustoffe (insbesondere Stroh).

aspern Die Seestadt Wiens - Subprojekt 3a: Technologiezentrum aspern IQ
Anhand des Demonstrationsgebäudes Technologiezentrum aspern IQ wurde gezeigt, dass der Energiebedarf für die Raumkonditionierung (Heizung, Kühlung, Lüftung, Beleuchtung, Warmwasser) aus Energieeigenproduktion über die Jahresbilanz gedeckt werden kann.
Modular and standardised passive houses in solid timber construction
Concerning to an accurate and adaptable construction of 2 to 4 storey solid timber houses with the characteristics of a passive house, a digital construction and dimension system will be developed. The system which contains standardised modular ecological detailed solutions enables an exact dimensioning and installation of passive houses by small carpentering companies.
LifeCycle Tower - Energy efficient prefabricated multi-storey timber houses
Based on the results of previous research projects, the project at hand deals with the development of a wooden prefabricated module construction for energy efficient office buildings with up to 20 storeys. This sustainable system ensures cost certainty through the whole life cycle of the building.

Erarbeitung von Grundlagen und konkreten Vorschlägen für Hochbaukonstruktionen, die in höchstem Maß recyclierbar sind, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf Fügetechniken und Verbindungen sowie Konstruktionsvorschlägen samt ökologischer und bauphysikalischer Kennwerte sowie Kostenvergleichen wurden erstellt.
aspern Die Seestadt Wiens - Subprojekt 8: Leitprojektmanagement aspern+ 2011
Das Leitprojektmanagement beinhaltet die Abwicklung und Betreuung der Subprojekte, die regelmäßige Berichterstattung an das Programm-Management und die Aufbereitung sowie Verbreitung der einzelnen Ergebnisse. Darüber hinaus sollen Synergien zu anderen Leitprojekten aufgezeigt und berücksichtigt werden.
