"gugler! build & print triple zero" - subproject 5: Ecoeffective building

On the basis of the commercial building gugler with 2140 m² useable floor area existing and 3260 m² useable floor area to be built a concept for a 100% recyclable ecoeffective building will be developed.

Short Description

This project is a sub project of the flagship project "gugler! build & print triple zero"

Status

ongoing

Summary

Subproject 5 "ecoeffective building” is based on the two basic research projects 2 and 3 and integrates subproject 4 (energy concept). The two subprojects 2 and 3 to recycros and recyclability guarantee the necessary basic research on a general and wider level to the topic of closed cycle of materials. The work of subproject 3, "Construct Recyclable" ends with a general catalog and defined the reform with a choice of several construction proposals that meet the claims for the building Gugler (95% recyclable, 25% recycled material content). This selection of general proposals is available in the beginning of subproject 5 "ecoeffective building".

The aim of subproject 5 is to use the research done for a real and actual building (in this case, the commercial building gugler with 2140 m² useable floor area existing and 3260 m² useable floor area to be built). First a concept for a recyclable ecoeffective building will be developed, second all further planning with increasing level of detailed information will be supported with the necessary information. The consultancy of subproject 5 will also ensure compliance with the targets for all planning phases. In this project for the first time the objective preparatory work for recyclable construction and recycled raw materials will be put together with existing knowledge on life cycle assessment, risk analysis and product management, recent research results on disposal (ABC Disposal), and with the C2C approach, which is very much based on the detailed chemical analysis of substances. All these approaches will be merged into one overall package and then applied to the gugler building. In addition to this there will be a concept included to increase biodiversity on the site and buildings.

A report on the integrated planning work is to strengthen and raise the broad general understanding of integral planning.
Targets for the expenditure of building materials, relating to the building surface:

  • Ökoindex 3 (OI3): <50
  • Primary energy content not renewable (PEI): <1200 MJ/m2 KOF
  • Global Warming Potential (GWP) from process emissions <100 kg CO2-eq/m² KOF
  • Global Warming Potential (GWP) in renewable resources including stored CO2 <0 kg CO2 eq
  • Recycros share of total raw materials:>> 25 wt -%
  • Proportion of recyclable materials and structures> 95 wt -%
  • Prevention and recovery excavated material:> 80 wt -% of comparable buildings
  • Disposal according to figures. ABC Disposal: top field in comparison to previously evaluated HdZ demo projects

Goals for the C2C concept

The construction project gugler shall be allowed to call itself a Cradle to Cradle ® building. The materials used are tested to their C2C compatibility, special inputs for the recycling of PV and solar thermal, reduction of particulate matter by plant management, and the use of bio-plastics and nanomaterials

Target for biodiversity

Implementation and integration of the benchmark biodiversity on two different levels, one the quality of the direct surroundings, the other the biodiversity of the region.
