ECC – EnergyCityConcepts – Development of a methodology and concept for the implementation of sustainable energy systems in cities by the example of Gleisdorf and Salzburg
In the context of this project two concrete model regions (small city Gleisdorf and urban city quarter Salzburg-Schallmoos) will be developed and tested with new methodical approaches (interdisciplinary urban and regional energy planning, modeling and simulation). An ambitious political commitment of both model regions is a 100% renewable or rather CO2-neutral energy supply.
The Sustainable Hospital
Working together with practitioners scientists from the fields of social ecology, sociology of health and economics introduce the concept of sustainable development into a pilot hospital. The feasibility study establishes the base for ecological, social and economic improvements within the hospital.
Biomass-Logistic-Centers
By establishing regionally best situated logistic centers it shall be guaranteed that in all of Styria transport and processing costs will be reduced and that a continual supply of biomass firewood of constant quality is ensured.
LivingMODELofTomorrow
Development of transparent, technical and economic models for medium and high volume residential buildings, with special focus on the non-profit sector. Topics such as generation living, teleworking as well as smart homes are developed in an integrated model, for dense structures as well as pavillons and townhouses. All models follow the three pillars of sustainability.
EuroSun 2010

Graz, Austria
EuroSun conferences are organized biennially by ISES Europe and are dedicated to a scientific audience in the field of solar energy.
Biobased Plastics Scenario 2050 - plastics made from renewable resources
A “2050 scenario - plastics made from renewable resources (bio-based plastics)” has been developed. The hypothetical target of this scenario is for bio-based plastics to have a 100 % market share of product manufacturing in the EU. The scenario provides the basis for further national RTI activities and for recommendations for regulation.
IEA Bioenergy Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA Bioenergy TCP)
IEA Bioenergy’s vision is to achieve a substantial bioenergy contribution to future global energy demands by accelerating the production and use of environmentally sound, socially accepted and cost-competitive bioenergy on a sustainable basis, thus providing increased security of supply whilst reducing greenhouse gas emissions from energy use.

circPLAST‐mr Mechanical Recycling of Plastics: Mechanisches Recycling von Kunststoffen: From waste plastics to high‐quality and specification‐compliant recyclates
The flagship project circPLAST‐mr pursues the following 4 main objectives: (1) to identify and explore previously unused potential for mechanical plastics recycling, (2) to define and test key process steps for this on a laboratory/pilot scale, (3) to demonstrate the eco‐efficient marketability of increased recycled plastic volumes, and (4) to demonstrate the scalability of the laboratory/pilot process steps to industrial scale.
New Communal Centre Ludesch

Community centre with multi-functional usage (cultural events, library, post office, bakery, grocery, daycare, private apartments, meeting point of the generations); role model for consistent implementation of ecological criteria in public tendering; plausible evidence of cost efficiency
New aluminium - sun collector

The development of a new aluminium - sun collector, where the working- fluid completely run through the absorber- area, to reach a higher efficiency.
The Green Parking Space – Utilization of urban parking areas for production of biomass
Many traffic areas in urban environments are actually used as such only a small fraction of the time. Subject of this project was to investigate the possibility of using those areas by additional integration of photobioreactors for the production of biomass, integrating such systems to the maximum extent into the urban substance and energy cycles.
