IEA EBC Annex 60: New generation computational tools for building and community energy systems based on the Modelica and Functional Mockup Interface standards
The objective was to develop and demonstrate next-generation computational tools that allow building and community energy grids to be designed and operated as integrated systems. The work conducted in Annex 60 has helped to share, further develop and deploy free open-source contributions of previously uncoordinated activities in modeling and simulation, based on the Modelica and Functional Mockup Interface standards.
IEA EBC Annex 61 - Business and Technical Concepts for Deep Energy Retrofit of Public Buildings
Target of IEA EBC Annex 61 was the development of technical and economical concepts for Deep Energy Retrofit of public buildings. To force high-quality and energy efficient retrofit, besides the enhancement and dissemination of innovative, technical retrofit concepts, the focus was in the development of innovative business models (energy-contracting).
IEA EBC Annex 82: Energy flexible buildings towards resilient low carbon energy systems
In the future, buildings and building clusters should be able to provide energy flexibility services for different types of energy systems. The project increases knowledge about the obstacles and motivation for the stakeholders involved. Their constructive engagement is a key to making the energy flexibility of buildings a value for the resilience of future energy networks.
IEA EBC Annex 81: Data-Driven Smart Buildings
The latest developments in digitization have the potential to significantly reduce the costs of building operations. The annex is intended to improve access to low-cost, high-quality data from buildings and to support the development of data-driven energy efficiency applications and analyses. This enables the optimization of building controls in real time and offers energy efficiency data and decision support for building managers.
IEA HPT Annex 51: Acoustic Signatures of Heat Pumps
The aim of the project was to increase the acceptance of heat pumps by reducing their noise emissions and vibrations and to reduce market barriers. Using innovative measurement and data analysis methods, influencing factors on the acoustic emissions of heat pump systems and the impact of acoustic protection measures were investigated. The results were prepared in the form of guidelines and recommendations for action.
IEA Wind Task 19: Wind Energy in Cold Climates (working period 2016 - 2018)
IEA Wind Task 19 deals with the challenges of the utilisation of wind energy in Cold Climates (i.e. under icing-conditions) and offers through global networking and mutual exchange of experience, the possibility of collecting and generating additional know-how. Aim of the subtask was to share experiences with international partners and standardising of icefall risk assessments. In addition, an evaluation report on the functionality of the new Vestas rotor blade heating system was published.

IEA HPT Annex 67: Digital Services for Heat Pumps
Digital services such as advanced modelling, big data methods and augmented reality are not yet widespread in the heat pump industry, although they can be essential for market penetration and decarbonisation. In the project it will be analysed how such services can be used over the life cycle, especially for product design/testing, integration, and operation/maintenance. Expertise from R&D and practice will be collected in an international database and disseminated in the industry.

IEA PVPS Task 15: Acceleration of BIPV
Building integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) is one of the future markets for Photovoltaics which enables the combination of architecture and energy technology. The project focussed on further national research in the area of BIPV, which is to be raised to an international level.
Sustainability Balanced Scorecard
The method Balanced Scorecard was used to build a company-wide management-system which facilitates an easy communication and a focused and controllable implementation of the defined strategies (strategies for the company, business segments and defined areas of knowledge). The aspect of sustainability was strongly emphasized.
i3 - Sustainable Food Management II
The project at hand is the continuation of the last years project of the same name. It is the aim of the project to develop an integrated, IT-based management model for a meat processing enterprise taking into account the value chain as well as the regional environment.
