MISSION KS 30 - Mission Klagenfurt climate-neutral and smart until 2030
Updating the Smart City Strategy (SCS) of Klagenfurt to achieve climate neutrality by 2030 and adapting the indicators to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Fulfilling the participation requirements for the urban mission of Horizon Europe "100 Climate-neutral Cities by 2030".
GeoDatKlim - Preparation of an innovation lab - IoT and geo-AI-supported data management for the climate-neutral city
Preparation of a real laboratory that will enable numerous actors to research the actual benefits of urban data or their AI-supported analysis for a climate-neutral city. By clarifying strategic, technical and legal aspects as well as potential analyses along relevant use cases, the framework conditions for an open, multi-year research environment (real laboratory) in Vienna are set in motion.
Plan4.Energy – methodological set for the planning support of positive energy districts
Plan4.Energy develops a set of methods to support the planning of positive energy districts. The data-based system integration will enable a user-friendly quantitative assessment of the possibilities for building a positive energy district. This will allow stakeholders without the relevant background knowledge to realistically assess different project variants.
MEIDLINGER "L"-Participatory and scalable climate change adaptations in existing buildings at the intersection of public and private space
The project pursued an integral and interdisciplinary approach to climate change adaptation in existing buildings at the interface between public and private space. A scalable and multipliable model for Vienna and other cities had been developed.
Biotope City - construction manual for the green city of the future
"Biotope City" is an overall concept for the implementation of comprehensive urban greening with the aim of using the regenerative mechanisms of nature. With this approach, quality of life is to be comprehensively, sustainably and cost-effectively increased and resilience against extreme weather events in cities will be improved. The project aims to generate realistic components of a "construction manual" for the green city of the future, which are generalizable and transferable.
ISEC 2024 - International Sustainable Energy Conference
10. – 11. April 2024
Messecongress Graz, Austria
The focus of ISEC 2024 will be on how we can achieve energy sovereignty within a time horizon dictated by climate change and defined by politics.
Mission Innovation Austria Online Event: Energy Communities - Findings from Innovation Programs and Pilots
23. April 2020
Online
The aim of the half-day webinar was to provide insights into energy communities and their opportunities and challenges arising from current market and regulatory regimes. More than 300 participants from 28 countries took part in the webinar.
SAVE circular approaches for green buildings!
The project demonstrates the cycle and use of synergies in an ARWAG residential building from the extraction of valuable raw materials through a urine treatment plant (fertilizer) using energy recovery measures (heat recovery, heat pump, photovoltaics) to the use of the fertilizer for the generously designed greening measures and the associated effects on the microclimate.
# EEG+ digital energy communities
The project addressed issues related to plus-energy neighborhoods and energy communities, both of which aim to make buildings more sustainable. The aim was to explore synergy effects and to research a possible implementation as a demonstration.
REGOreal - 100% Renewable Energy Region: Local Energy Common Good Economy in real laboratories for networked energy and mobility cells
In REGOreal, the exploration for a 100% renewable energy region in the area of Retz-Horn-Krems-Tulln (Lower Austria) and Mallnitz (Ktn) is taking place. There are four focus topics: 100 Renewable Energy Communities (REC), 1.000 building renovations, 10.000 energy exporters (in the sense of employees who carry the approach into their private environment) and 100 Mio. km of sustainable mobility with extensive use of IT for the development of local integrated energy systems (IES) to integrate a colorful mix of different actors and objects.
IEA SHC Conference and ISES Solar World Congress 2017
29. October - 2. November 2017
Jumeirah Hotel at Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The International Solar Energy Society, ISES, and the International Energy Agency’s Solar Heating and Cooling Programme, IEA SHC, are very pleased to announce that their next international conferences, the ISES Solar World Congress 2017 (SWC 2017) and the Solar Heating and Cooling for Buildings and Industry Conference (SHC 2017) will be held together.
M-DAB2: Material intensity of inner development - resource assessment and localization of urban development potentials
For the first time, the material intensity of inner development (in terms of material quantities) for different design variants was considered in the evaluation of inner development potentials. A set of methods for the holistic evaluation of potential areas and different development variants and scenarios for resource-saving inner development was created.

Monitoring of multi-family houses “Tonpfeifengasse”
Evaluation of activated building parts as heat storage for renewable energy shown on the example of the multi-family houses "Tonpfeifengasse".
ERA-NET COFUND Smart Cities and Communities (2014 - 2019)
Smart Cities and Communities have been identified as key to achieving the energy efficiency targets for 2020 and 2050. The main objective of this ERA-NET COFUND is to stimulate successful practice and facilitate replicability within Smart Cities and Communities implementation projects and also across projects in order to achieve a technological shift in the current energy system and provide smart and integrated solutions for technology, government and society.
NEWTON: City of Tomorrow 4.0 - movie series
In the future, more people than ever will live in cities. But how can we make better use of energy and other resources? In this science documentary, we present innovative technologies and concepts in the field of sustainable building, and meet Austrian experts working at home and abroad. Intelligent planning, innovative building technologies and urban greening are the keys to making our cities more livable for tomorrow.

Evaluation of visionary architectural concepts
The aim of this project is to show that even at first glance unrealistic and seemingly unworkable solutions can contribute to overcome or mitigate increasingly global problems. The keywords "smart city", "smart home" (and similar ones) require solutions that are envisioned on free roads, as off-the-shelf solution often do not deliver the required output.
