ÖKO-OPT-QUART - Economically optimized control and operating mode of complex energy networks of future city districts
In the project ÖKO-OPT-QUART energy-based, economic and control-orientated models will be developed in order to simulate the operating mode of complex, sustainable energy networks in city districts. For an exemplary configuration these models will be combined to an overall model which allows a realistic economic comparison of different control strategies. The final goal of the project is the development of a method for the systematic design of cost-optimized, predictive control strategies for complex energy networks in city districts.

Mit dem Innovationslabor act4energy wurden eine Plattform und die Infrastruktur-Voraussetzungen für die Lösung des Problems der stark fluktuierenden Verfügbarkeit von Erneuerbaren Energien geschaffen, mit Schwerpunkt auf die PV-Strom-Eigenoptimierung.
CHALLENGE - Hocheffiziente Heißgas- und Abwärmenutzung in Luft/Wasserwärmepumpen für Plus-Energie-Gebäude und -Quartiere
CHALLENGE zielt darauf ab, das Konzept für Luft/Wasser-Wärmepumpen weiterzuentwickeln, dass diese hocheffizient in dicht bebauten, urbanen Gebieten eingesetzt werden können. Konkret soll mittels validierter Simulationen sowie eines Funktionsmusters des Gesamtsystems im Labormaßstab der Nachweis erbracht werden, dass 10% an elektrischer Energie eingespart, der Schall der Außengeräte im Sommer auf ein Minimum reduziert, sowie die Bildung lokaler Hitzeinseln vermieden werden kann.
CHALLENGE - Highly efficient use of hot gas and waste heat in air/water heat pumps for plus-energy buildings and quarters
CHALLENGE aims to further develop the system concept for air-to-water heat pumps in such a way that they can be used efficiently and without the above mentioned negative effects in densely built-up urban areas. In concrete terms, validated simulations and a functional model of the overall system on a laboratory scale are to be used to demonstrate that the concept can save 10% of electrical energy, reduce the noise of outdoor units in summer to a minimum and prevent the formation of local heat islands.
RENEWnow - Neue Impulse für die hocheffiziente energetische Sanierung von Geschoßwohnbauten und Quartieren
Sondierung eines innovativen Lösungsansatzes für die hocheffiziente Sanierung von Mehrfamilienhäusern in Österreich. Die Stadt St. Pölten sieht in Vertical Farming großes Potential hinsichtlich der Ziele des Smart City-Konzeptes durch die Verknüpfung von lokaler Lebensmittelproduktion, Lebensqualität und Reduktion des Ressourcenverbrauchs. Um dieser Zielsetzung gerecht zu werden sollen Vertikale Farmen an Bestandsgebäuden entwickelt werden. Öko-soziale und sozio-ökonomische Betrachtungen spielen hierbei mit eine tragende Rolle.

The city of St. Pölten forsees great potential in Vertical Farming with regard to the objectives related to the concept of the Smart City program - linking local food production, quality of life by reducing resource consumption. This has to be evaluated by combining Vertical Farms with existing living buildings. Eco-social and socio-economic considerations play an important role in this process.
