BIGMODERN - Subproject 2: Demonstration project of an official building in Bruck
In the frame of this subproject being part of the flagship project BIGMODERN, a decision matrix as well as a handbook for planning, including feasibility analysis and a collection of information, serving as decision guidance for planning and implementation of sustainable building refurbishment, is being developed. In this way, the risk for planners and builders of the usage of new sustainable technologies shall be minimised.
Bi-directional integration of buildings with heat sources in thermal networks
This project analyzed the integration of decentralized heat sources into domestic heat grids technically, but also economically.
Facilitated decision-making procedures for sustainable refurbishment of residential properties
Participation in the refurbishment process: Monitoring of concrete refurbishment projects and development of guidelines to optimise the planning, information and decision-making processes in the course of the refurbishment of residential properties
PhaseOut – Heat pump technologies in the renovation of existing buildings
The aim is the conception, optimization, implementation, demonstration and evaluation of innovative, minimally invasive renovation solutions (thermal renovation and heating system replacement) with heat pumps and PV in multi-storey buildings on seven identical buildings. The comprehensive comparison includes various technical solution variants based on modular and scalable building technology systems as well as multifunctional building components for the exchange of decentralized gas heating by central, semi-central and decentralized heat pump solutions.
aspern Vienna´s Urban Lakeside - subproject 6a: Energy Consumption Monitoring
This subproject of the flagship project "aspern plus" derived the basis for a centralised monitoring of the energy consumption in Seestadt aspern.
Operational and maintenance costs in passive houses and low energy houses
How much energy does a passive house actually save? Does a passive house pay-off by itself? What are the costs for maintancence? For the first time an approximation for the running costs of a passive house were systematically documented and compared.
The Passive House Catalogue of Building details for renovations
"Building of Tomorrow" funded research reports dealing with building renovation will be analysed for solutions of construction details. This information will be supplemented with structural-physical descriptions, ecological ratings and technical discussions. All the information will be collected and systematically presented in a catalogue of building details for renovation.
CityCalc - Calculation Tool for Energy-Efficiency in Urban Planning
To assess the energy performance of urban planning projects in early design stages with low input and evaluation effort within the project CityCalc, an easily applicable planning and evaluation tool has been developed.
SpeedReg - Prompt quality assurance of the commissioning process of buildings
The focus of the project is on quality assurance within the commissioning process with the aim to speed up and to improve the operational adjustment of newly constructed or comprehensively renovated buildings. The fragmented know-how which is hardly accessible for the relevant target groups will be consolidated and elaborated in the form of a practice guideline which will be directly applicable in commissioning processes in practice. In this way the project contributes to the development of a common, well-established standard for quality assurance within the commissioning of buildings.
Construction Site SCHOOL - Sustainable Models for the Refurbishment of School Buildings?
In this research project, models for refurbishment and restructuring of school buildings were developed. The reconstruction concepts contain lists of measures for deploying sustainable building techniques and exemplary case studies for the reorganisation of buildings of different typologies.
Energy efficient, resource conserving and differentiated renovation of historic European building stocks (ReCoRe)
The project goal was the development of an integrated, long term and life cycle oriented approach to sustainable modernisation of historical building stocks. Within this project the partners used common objectives and planning tools and followed a common procedure in order to develop a specific national application which results from a historical, technical, social and cultural understanding of the specific national stock fragments.
Renovation with passive house technology by master-builder – verified planning documentation – Guide and seminars
The project aims at an increased implementation of passive house technology by the planning as well as the operating master-builder.
Comparative analysis and evaluation of innovative building concept models in terms of key ecological and economic figures during life cycle of individual building concepts
The aim of this research project was to subject a number of building concept models to a comprehensive comparative analysis and evaluation in terms of key ecological and economic figures.
Integration of results of the program "Building of Tomorrow" into the established qualification program of energy counsellors and their daily consultancy activities
Preparing the results of the "Building of Tomorrow" program for energy counsellors by elaborating a material collection and integrating it into the basic education of energy counsellors. Furthermore a one-day training course for already active energy counsellors will be designed and held.
SQUARE - A System for Quality Assurance when Retrofitting Existing Buildings to Energy Efficient Buildings
The project aims to promote a flexible quality assurance management for the retrofitting process. It leads to high quality renovations of residential multifamily buildings regarding energy improvement and improvement of indoor environment.
Climate protection in Schools: a prototype for targeted oriented knowledge transfer for students on the basis of energy efficient buildings
The saying "Was Hänschen nicht lernt, lernt Hans nimmermehr." which can be translated with the English saying "You can´t teach an old dog new tricks." especially applies to the issue of "climate protection" in general. Therefore children must be made aware of the importance of the subject from the beginning on in order to live their life efficiently and environmentally friendly. Based on a research and on an evaluation of existing teaching materials teachers and students will develop, how students understand the topic "climate protection" with a focus on "building and living in the future" the easiest way.
PV4residents – Innovative Finance Service and Business Model for PV Power Plants of Multiple Dwellings with On-site Use of Electricity
The aim is to develop a business model, which enables a stronger penetration of PV plants on multiple dwellings with self-consumption of produced electricity by the residents. Involvement of the municipality allows to deliver surplus electricity for their needs. Basis of the business model is an analysis of the technical, legal, administrative, user related and economic barriers with participation of stakeholders and to identify best practice solutions.
