IEA Bioenergy Task 42: Biorefinery (Working Period 2007 - 2009)
Austrian Participation on IEA Bioenergy Task 42: "Biorefineries - Co-production of Fuels, Chemicals, Power, and Materials from Biomass", Triennium 2007 to 2009
CHALLENGE - Highly efficient use of hot gas and waste heat in air/water heat pumps for plus-energy buildings and quarters
CHALLENGE aims to further develop the system concept for air-to-water heat pumps in such a way that they can be used efficiently and without the above mentioned negative effects in densely built-up urban areas. In concrete terms, validated simulations and a functional model of the overall system on a laboratory scale are to be used to demonstrate that the concept can save 10% of electrical energy, reduce the noise of outdoor units in summer to a minimum and prevent the formation of local heat islands.
IEA FBC Implementing Agreement Fluidized Bed Conversion (working period 2020 - 2023)
The aim of the project is to continue and further develop the internationally very well accepted participation of Austria in the information network of the IEA Fluidized Bed Conversion (FBC) Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) to optimize fluidized bed conversion of fuels applied to clean energy production (heat and power). All stakeholders will be included on a national as well as on a global level.
Development of a new generation of grid-connected PV inverters
Improvement of operational parameters (efficiency, quality of current waveform, reduced size and weight) and reduction of manufacturing costs
aspern Vienna´s Urban Lakeside - subproject 6a: Energy Consumption Monitoring
This subproject of the flagship project "aspern plus" derived the basis for a centralised monitoring of the energy consumption in Seestadt aspern.
Company communication strategies for sustainability
Based on a representative empirical study among ultimate consumers (1000 interviews) and an empirical survey among 200 model companies in regard to sustainable management, communication strategies and concepts are developed.
S I P settlement models in passive house quality
Research, development and realization of integral building concepts in passive house quality!
HY3GEN - A Regenerative Building
The "third generation hybrid building" (HY3GEN), whose main features are being defined in this project, has expanded this approach to include the integration of aspects of efficient resource utilization in construction and operation as well as the use of regenerative raw materials and renewable energy.
NATHPRO: Development of NATural fiber High performance pultrusion PROfiles (SUSPRISE Joint Call)
Development of strong, light, weather and heat resistant natural fiber profiles by combining the the advantages of a pultrusion technology with the advantages of natural fibers.
CircuPack - Recyclable materials for food packaging with a low ecological footprint
The goal of the project is to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly food packaging with an improved ecological footprint. It is important to develop a new process control that ensures both food compatibility and the sustainability of the resulting product.
ReKEP
ReKEP relies on reusable transport containers instead of (disposable) cardboard packaging. These should be affordable, effective and flexible to use in the CEP sector (courier, express, parcel). The logistics processes involved are examined and adjustments are proposed to achieve economic, ecological and social sustainability.
1000 passive houses in Austria - 3rd documentation period 2006 - 2008
3rd documentation period of the joint project of IG Passivhaus Österreich to set up a detailed network documentation on a representative cross-section of all passive houses in Austria.
Urban consolidation Lehen
The key project "Stadtumbau Lehen" ("urban consolidation Lehen") coordinates several projects at the urban district of Lehen, with the purpose of the raise in energy efficiency and safekeeping of a sustainable development. Four builder (ten teams of architects), two scientifically institutions, the town of Salzburg and two attended departments of the land are working together.
IEA HPT Task 42: Heat pumps in smart energy grids for sustainable cities
The aim of Annex 42 is to analyse the technical possibilities as well as the economic/regulatory framework conditions of heat pumps for load balancing in smart grids, which are largely controlled by electricity supplier, and to investigate the impact on thermal consumers and possible potentials, in order to work out economic incentive models for load shifting and the benefits for energy supply companies and end customers on this basis.
Analysis of the high-quality wooden facade in extreme climates
The project "Alpine base Schiestlhaus on the Hochschwab, which was opened in 2005, represents a lighthouse project for the "House of the Future" programme as the 1st shelter in zero-energy house quality. After more than 15 years in operation, however, damages came to light. Within the framework of this project, analysis activities were carried out on the cause of damage as well as the development of new facade structures.
Development of a Performance- and Risk-Management-Concept for Sustainable Supply Chain Networks
The target of this project is to develop a specific performance and risk-management concept for companies in sustainable supply chain networks. By using this concept the involved companies will be able to reduce various risks and have more success with sustainable development.
IEA EBC Annex 79: Occupant-Centric Building Design and Operation
The IEA EBC Annex 79 aims to provide new insights into comfort-related occupant behaviour in buildings and its impact on building energy performance as well as occupant-centric building design and operation.
Energy services for the optimised summer utilization of district heating systems
Development of practicable energy services for the summer utilization of district heating systems with reference to existing technologies to improve the efficiency and potentialities for the integration of renewable energy.
Energy park Micheldorf-Hirt
Co-operative merging of the energy supply for the Region of Micheldorf within an operating scheme and supply of energy produced through renewable resources. Sustainable, autarkic, economic energy park. Energy supply by renewable resources for the building of the energy autarkic region Micheldorf-Hirt
Small wind turbines for households and companies
In a practical way the project showed that with optimised small wind turbines a useful potential of wind power can also be generated at different suitable locations with low wind conditions directly at households and companies.
