FlexHP - AI-supported control models for optimising the flexibility of heat pumps to reduce the load on the electricity grid

Development of a new type of energy management system for heat pumps that enables methods for intelligent heat pump operation and thus maximises flexibility. This requires forecast-based models for control that utilise technologies such as machine learning.

Strengths and weaknesses of the Austrian construction sector in relation to the New European Bauhaus Initiative

In cooperation with Initiative Bauhaus, an Austrian thinktank founded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and different actors of the building industry like designers, architects, students, companies and the general public, the aim is to create a common strategy for the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative in Austria. This report shows best practice examples and further potential for new projects and guidelines in accordance with the goals of the NEB.

GreenFDT – Green Façade Digital Twin

In an interdisciplinary framework, the possibilities for optimizing the rear ventilation distance of façade greening elements and their potential impact on indoor and ur­ban climate are being investigated. The precise and comprehensive investigation of these relationships is made possible by the extensive deployment of sensors and measuring tools and furthermore the development and integration of a digital twin in a BIM model.

Braunau 2040

Die Stadtgemeinde Braunau am Inn ist eine der ersten Klimabündnisgemeinden Oberösterreichs, langjähriges Mitglied in einer Klima- und Energiemodellregion und setzt regelmäßig Maßnahmen und Projekte im Bereich Klimaschutz um (Energie­konzept, Mobilitätskonzept, etc.). Zusammen mit dem Klimabündnis Oberösterreich möchte die Stadt­gemeinde Braunau am Inn nun einen kommunalen Klima­neutra­li­tätsfahrplan mit klaren Handlungsoptionen für die kommenden Jahre entwickeln.

Ternitz 2040 – Ternitz mit Klimaneutralitäts­fahrplan nachhaltig gestalten

Die Stadt Ternitz ist seit 1991 Klimabündnisgemeinde, seit 2010/2011 Teil der KEM-Region Schwarzatal, seit 2011 e5-Gemeinde (mit 4e) und wurde 2023 in der LEADER-Region NÖ-Süd zur "Energie.Vorbild.Gemeinde" ernannt. Zentrale Themenfelder sind der Ausbau der Photovoltaik, die Förderung des Rad- und öffentlichen Verkehrs sowie der eMobilität, Energieeffizienz im öffentlichen Bereich, die Nutzung indus­trieller Synergien und energieeffiziente Gebäudekonzepte im Wohnbau.

Ternitz 2040

The town of Ternitz has been a Climate Alliance municipality since 1991, a member of the KEM Schwarzatal region since 2010/2011, an e5 municipality (with 4e) since 2011, and was awarded the title "Energie.Vorbild.Gemeinde" in June 2023 within the LEADER region NÖ-Süd. Key focus areas include the expansion of photovoltaics, the promotion of cycling, public transport and e-mobility, energy efficiency in the public sector, the use of synergies with local industry, and the implementation of energy-efficient residential building concepts.

CO2 free Deutschlandsberg 2040

The city of Deutschlandsberg has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2040 and is developing a climate neutrality roadmap to ensure climate-resilient urban development. This plan is also intended to combine the expected population growth, due to the com­missioning of the Koralm railway at the end of 2025, while maintaining a high quality of life.

Köflach klimaneutral - Stadt mit fossiler Geschichte und klimaneutraler Zukunft

Für die Stadt Köflach stand in den letzten Jahrzehnten der Strukturwandel vom früher prägenden Braun­kohle­abbau zu einer nachhaltigen Zukunft im Vordergrund. Aufbauend darauf bietet Köflach gute Voraus­setzungen als attraktiver Wohn­standort. Der nachhaltige Wandel der Stadt kann mit konsequenten Maßnahmen in Richtung klima­wandel­angepassten Wohnen und klimaneutraler Energie­versorgung, bei gleichzeitiger Stärkung der überregional bekannten touristischen Ausflugsziele, vorangetrieben werden.

Köflach climate-neutral - a town with fossil history and climate neutral future

In recent decades, the city of Köflach has focused on structural change, moving away from the lignite mining that used to characterise the town and towards a sustainable future. Building on this, Köflach offers good conditions as an attractive residential location. The sustainable transformation of the town can be driven forward with consistent measures towards climate change-adapted living and climate-neutral energy supply, while at the same time strengthening the nationally recognised tourist destinations.

Braunau 2040

The city of Braunau am Inn is one of the first Climate Alliance municipalities in Upper Austria, a long-standing member of a climate and energy model region and regularly implements measures and projects in the area of climate action and protection (energy concept, mobility concept, etc.). Together with the Climate Alliance Upper Austria, the municipality of Braunau am Inn would now like to develop a municipal climate neutrality roadmap with clear options for action for the coming years.
