IEA 4E Annex: Mapping and Benchmarking
In the Mapping and Benchmarking work (formerly M&B Annex) the following product were analyzed: domestic refrigeration (update), dishwashers, settop boxes, transformers and lights, for which this report includes most relevant results and the related M&B publications. It also introduces the 2015-2016 work on motors, liquid chillers, and water boilers.
IEA ES Task 41: Economics of Energy Storage
What is the value of energy storage and how can it be quantified? How can the benefits and value of energy storage be translated into promising business models? The Task will conduct a coordinated methodological assessment of the economic viability of energy storage (electrical, thermal, and chemical) in applications relevant to the energy system. This will be used to derive preferred conditions for energy storage configurations.
IEA EBC Annex 81: Data-Driven Smart Buildings
The latest developments in digitization have the potential to significantly reduce the costs of building operations. The annex is intended to improve access to low-cost, high-quality data from buildings and to support the development of data-driven energy efficiency applications and analyses. This enables the optimization of building controls in real time and offers energy efficiency data and decision support for building managers.

IEA DHC Annex TS4: Digitalisation of District Heating and Cooling
The aim of the IEA DHC Annex TS4 is to identify the possibilities of digitalization and the integration of digital process for district heating and cooling. To this end, the Annex TS4 establishes a platform for industrial and scientific experts to strengthen international cooperation and networking and the exchange of experience of national research and development activities.
IEA SHC Task 62: Solar Energy in Industrial Water and Wastewater Management
The main objective of IEA SHC Task 62 was to increase the use of solar thermal energy in industry, to develop new collector technologies and to open up industrial and municipal water treatment as a new area of application with high market potential for solar thermal energy. The focus was on thermal separation technologies as well as technologies for solar water decontamination and disinfection. By combining the technologies with solar collectors, an innovative and economically attractive overall solution should be created for integration into industry.
IEA SHC Task 61/EBC Annex 77: Integrated Solutions for Daylighting and Electric Lighting
Lighting accounts for around 15% of global electricity consumption - intelligent coordination of daylighting and electric lighting solutions together with integral lighting controls enable significant energy savings. At the same time, the solutions must be optimally planned in a user-centered approach based on the visual and non-visual effects of light. The task analysed user requirements as well as existing technologies and design methods and documented exemplary implementations in case studies.
