In Vorträgen und einer Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema Flexibilität von Verbrauchern (Demand Response) im Rahmen der IEEE PowerTech Konferenz in Eindhoven (Holland) wurde über aktuelle Entwicklungen diskutiert. Themen waren die Entwicklung und Herausforderungen an die Energiemärkte, um Flexibilität der Endverbraucher für System- und Netz-dienliche Dienstleistungen konform mit der Regulierung einzuführen. Sprecher aus dem akademischen Bereich, Netzbetreiber, Regierung und Industrie präsentierten ihre Sichtweisen und Hürden.
Smart Gas Grids - Intelligent Gas Networks of the Future
The basic principles of "Smart Gas Grids" will be investigated and practical issues and deployment strategies will be studied in detail. Furthermore, together with the relevant stakeholders, a "Vision- and Strategy Paper" and a draft for a "Strategic Research Agenda" will be developed.
Biogas as Vehicle Fuel - Economic Feasibility in Austria
The main objectives of this project are to discuss the economic feasibility of the production and distribution of biogas used as transportation fuel and to identify those types of local distribution systems that are already economically feasible under the present economic conditions in Austria.

The paper gives a worldwide overview of the dissemination and major markets for solar heating systems. It also shows the contribution of solar plants to the supply of energy and the CO2 emissions avoided as a result of operating these plants and it gives an overview of recent system developments in the field of solar combisystems for hot water and space heating as well as in the field of large-scale solar heating systems for housing developments.

Mobile and modular thermally-driven-cooling-system
Development of a mobile and modular thermally-driven-cooling-system for cooling powers ranging from 17 to 210 kW. The driving heat is provided by solar collectors and a biomass boiler. For research purposes a cooling systems (70 kW) will be installed in Gleisdorf where the company EnergyCabin is located.

Refrigerating plants in hotel and catering industry
To the frequent uses of refrigerating plants in hotel and catering industry was not paid a lot of attention in the way of energy efficiency so far. We are talking about plug-in cooling units and custom-made cooling equipment. Aim of the project: finding out the manner and amount of refrigeration usage, as well as the estimation of energy savings potential and measures, especially for custom-made cooling equipment.
Efficient biogas processing with membrane technique
Production of natural gas substitute with a newly developed gas permeation technology. Optimization of the process with biogas from energy crops fermentation. Screening of new methods of online product gas quality control.
Distributed generation and renewables - Power Quality
The project will demonstrate how the integration of power electronics equipment in Distributed Generation (DG) units can actively improve the stability and quality of supply of electric power distribution networks in order to increase the penetration of DG and Renewable Energy Sources.
