Experiences and attitudes of users as a basis for the development of sustainable housing concepts with high social acceptance
The aim of this project was to a) analyse current experiences of users of ecologically innovative residential buildings ("passive houses", solar houses, etc.) in Austria, b) to evaluate innovative housing concepts in focus groups, and c) to create a model for the continuous participation of users in the innovation process.

The design aims not only at creating comfortable living spaces and practical work environments, but at connecting these realms, thus providing a holistically attractive “living space”. A pilot project will be built on an appropriate site in the very core of Moosburg, neighbouring both the village square and the educational campus.

Community organizing is used as a method to develop an activating social process to inform and include involved people in the district concerning new buildings but also in the process of urban renewal. The main aim of the project ROOFJET Wißgrillgasse is a building refurbishment by a factor of 8 which demonstrates that even historical buildings can be refurbished to lowest energy standard.This demonstration project shows a holistic and sustainable refurbishment concept for a special type of buildings with innovative technical and organizational solutions.

In the oppositional subproject 2 technical and organisational requirements for the transformation of the innovative Smart Metering-concept will be developed. An integrated technical energy plus office concept without additional building costs demonstrates the feasibility of such projects instancing a concrete office project with 50.000 m² floor area in Vienna with economical cost consideration.
