PhaseOut – Heat pump technologies in the renovation of existing buildings
The aim is the conception, optimization, implementation, demonstration and evaluation of innovative, minimally invasive renovation solutions (thermal renovation and heating system replacement) with heat pumps and PV in multi-storey buildings on seven identical buildings. The comprehensive comparison includes various technical solution variants based on modular and scalable building technology systems as well as multifunctional building components for the exchange of decentralized gas heating by central, semi-central and decentralized heat pump solutions.
Inhabitants-friendly passive house renovation in Klosterneuburg / Kierling

Renovation of an apartment house from the 1970s as passive house using renewable energy.
Reduction of maintenance costs of ventilation systems in plus energy buildings
Maintenance costs for central air ventilation systems are approximately 0,42 Euro/m².a excluding VAT, for decentralized systems 1,16 Euro/m².a excluding VAT. 50% savings in operating costs of apartment passive houses opposed to apartment low-energy buildings [SCH11] can be achieved with maintenance costs of around 0,42 Euro/m².a.
aspern Vienna´s Urban Lakeside - subproject 6b: Monitoring of Energy Consumption in Demonstration Buildings in Seestadt Aspern
The project deals wtih the energy consumption monitoring of demonstration buildings, which are erected within the framework of the landmark project "aspern+". As both, office/manufacturing as well as residential buildings will be constructed, these different user groups will have to be considered. The derivation of the concepts will be done in accordance of the specific needs of the individual demonstration buildings.
OPEN LIVING PLUS - building structures and utilization options with high social functionality and plusEnergie-standard for rural regions
In small to medium sized communities in rural Regions there is a high demand for sustainable building and space for innovative living facilities, to satisfy the requirements of current and coming life designs. ZQ3Demo accompanies three innovative urban quarters in Vienna to demonstrate and further develop ecologically and economically sustainable solutions for the implementation of Plus-Energy-Quarters (PEQ) on the basis of real-life examples.
Using buildings as energy storage - Monitoring project: Detached house H and detached house F Energy source wind power – Energy source solar power
Monitoring and comparison of performance of thermally activated building components in two similarly built, inhabited detached houses with different energy sources (wind and solar power). The functionality of energy supply through wind power or solar energy will be investigated as well as the verification of the practicability of self-regulating system control due to building temperature behaviour. The results provide an insight into the calculation assumptions, system control and feasibility of the smart grid technology.
