IEA Bioenergy Task 33: Gasification of Biomass and Waste (Working Period 2022 - 2024)
The aim of Task 33 is to exchange information on the production and utilization of renewable gas from biomass and waste for the production of power, heat, biofuels and biochemicals. Especially the information exchange about R&D programs, implementation and possible markets is taken into account, to remove technical and non-technical barriers.
IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Biomass Combustion (Working Period 2022 - 2024)
Biomass combustion is an important technology for providing renewable energy worldwide. Almost half of the EU's energy consumption is used for heat, which, among other technologies, can be provided by biomass combustion in a climate-friendly manner. It is therefore a key technology for achieving national and international climate and energy goals. This project shall ensure the exchange of information on relevant topics in order to support the success of Austrian actors from industry and research.
IEA Bioenergy Task 40: Deployment of biobased value chains (Working period 2022 - 2024)
Bioenergy Task 40 traditionally focused on international trade and supply chains of biomass for bioenergy. Starting in 2018, the systems view was broadened, also to better meet Austrian requirements. The supply chain focus was maintained, but with a broader premise: The establishment of bio-based value chains for a sustainable and fair bioeconomy.
IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Webinar "Residential Wood Combustion – Towards Low Emission Systems" (2021)

IEA Bioenergy Task 32 veranstaltete am 6. Mai 2021 ein internationales Webinar mit dem Titel "Residential Wood Combustion - Towards Low Emission Systems".

IEA Bioenergy Task 37: Energy from Biogas (Working Period 2019 - 2021)
Aim of Task 37 is to accelerate development and progress of biogas technology in the member countries. During the working period 2019-2021 the focus lies on the ecologically and economically sound implementation of biogas technology in agricultural and industrial processes.
IEA Bioenergy Task 42: Biorefining in a Circular Economy (Working Period 2019-2021)
Biorefineries can provide a wide range of products such as energy, fuels, chemicals, food, feed and materials based on renewable resources. In this project, relevant information on biorefineries regarding technologies and biobased products will be compiled at international expert level and results on an ecological and economic assessment of selected biorefineries will be provided.
IEA Bioenergy Task 33: Gasification of Biomass and Waste (Working Period 2019 - 2021)
The main aim of IEA Bioenergy Task 33 is the international as well as national information exchange and networking on thermochemical gasification of biomass and waste. The focus is on exchange of information regarding R&D programmes in area of biomass and waste materials gasification, commercial facilities and the marketing chance for gasification facilities to identify and avoid technical and non-technical hurdles.
IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Biomass Combustion and Co-firing (Working Period 2019 - 2021)
Austrian participation in IEA Bioenergy Task 32 "Biomass Combustion and Cofiring" during the working period 2019 - 2021 and participation in defined task priorities, events and projects that are relevant for Austria. International and national dissemination and networking activities to exchange information and promote cooperation.
IEA Bioenergy Task 34: Direct Thermochemical Liquefaction (Working Period 2024 - 2028)
Direct thermochemical liquefaction of biomass and residues enables the production of fuels, bioenergy and other green carbon products. The co-production of several products is particularly important for the economic efficiency of the overall process. This project provides technology overviews of decentralized pyrolysis plants and case studies on co-production of green gas and biochar as well as integration into bioenergy systems.
IEA Bioenergy Task 44: Flexibilization and System Integration (Working Period 2025 - 2027)
What are the benefits of more integrated processes and systems? How can we measure integration and what should we look for when coupling between different sectors? IEA Bioenergy Task 44 provides answers to these and similar questions, especially in relation to a circular bioeconomy and the energy transition.
IEA Bioenergy Task 37: Energy from Biogas (Working Period 2025 - 2027)
Anaerobic digestion systems are an important component in waste and wastewater management as well as in agriculture. The state of the art of the technologies and the development of the sector vary greatly internationally. The main topics of the exchange of experience in task 37 are Co-benefits of biogas in the circular economy, framework conditions for digestate utilization, monitoring of microbial cultures in biogas plants, and comparison of economic framework conditions.
