BIGMODERN - Subproject 11: Dissemination of project results
The project is part of the flagship project BIGMODERN. It aims at disseminating all relevant results of BIGMODERN in a comprehensive and targeted way. It addresses different target groups, such as decision makers inside the BIG Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft, various users of federal buildings and other real estate companies nationally and internationally.
Future quarter 2.0 - Replicable, thermally and electrically grid-supportive conception of (positive energy) districts in a dense urban context
Development of a replicable concept for grid-supportive integration of innovative (positive energy) district with high on-site energy supply into the existing network infrastructure (electricity and district heating network).
Transferproject: Professional strawbale building - "Virtual building-site", exhibition and instruction material
Strawbale-workshops are considered as the best way to inseminate this ecological building-technique. The "virtual building site" has some decisive advantages over the common situation: it does not depend on the weather, allows the comparative study of different constructing methods and can, as a permanent installation, be used as an exhibition.
ECR Energy City Graz - subproject 2: Framework-Plan Energy City Graz-Reininghaus
Main project-issue is the scientific work and the demonstration of the vision of the energy self-sufficient, CO2-neutral city-district Graz-Reininghaus. The Framework-Plan Energy City Graz-Reininghaus shall stimulate an awareness-raising process towards energy-efficient and sustainable city-development.
Eco.District.Heat - Potentials and restrictions of grid-bound heating systems of urban areas
Aim of the project Eco.District.Heat is to provide strategic decision-making support that enables Austrian towns and cities to deal with aspects of grid-bound heating (and cooling) systems in accordance with integrated spatial and energy planning from a holistic perspective when elaborating urban energy concepts.
Results of the latest research about thermal use of solar energy in multi-storey housing, prepared for builders and planners
The relevant Know-How in the fields of "sustainable building and energy supply" will be gathered. The information will be transferred to the relevant target groups (building promoters, architects, planners, customers). This will be done during workshops, planning assistance and a catalogue of quality criteria. The focus lies on solar thermal systems for multiple-family houses.
1000 passive houses in Austria - 2nd documentation period 2004 - 2005
2nd documentation period of the joint project of IG Passivhaus Österreich under the programme line "Building of tomorrow", an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) to set up a detailed network documentation on a representative cross-section of all passive houses in Austria.
The Green Parking Space – Utilization of urban parking areas for production of biomass
Many traffic areas in urban environments are actually used as such only a small fraction of the time. Subject of this project was to investigate the possibility of using those areas by additional integration of photobioreactors for the production of biomass, integrating such systems to the maximum extent into the urban substance and energy cycles.
ThinkHome: Improved energy efficiency based on artificial intelligence in future homes
ThinkHome is a networked controlled home of the future with the ultimate goal to optimise energy efficiency and user comfort at the same time. On this way, smart interaction between all building services is of utmost importance. Goals of this project include the definition of a comprehensive knowledge base that holds all relevant building data, the evaluation of control strategies based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as agent based software engineering.

Dissemination aimed at defining the relevant target groups and broadly distributing the innovative solutions of the flagship project GdZ to the defined target groups. It is of crucial importance to effect a wide awareness level and to make a deep impact on the relevant target groups.
HEDWIG - Collection of measurement data to assess the impact of green buildings
HEDWIG aims for the assessment of effects from green roofs and facades on buildings by using monitoring data referring to microclimate and building physics. The objective is to define validated vegetation parameters and performance indicators on indoor and outdoor level and on microclimatic relevant street space level. Standardised indicators, evaluation and analysis procedures will be elaborated.
International Passive House Summer School for Students (PH-SS)
Summer school / workshop for design, construction and calculation of buildings in the passive house standard for students from Austrian and European universities.
DeLight Monitoring - Demo light Impact-Monitoring and metrological investigation of energy-efficient buildings
The Project consists of the metrological examination of eleven innovative buildings in terms of energy consumption and user comfort. In addition, building constructors and operators as well as the public are sensitized to the subject of energy-related optimization of building operation. Also, the potentials of energy-related optimization of building operation are shown.
ThermSat - pilot training program "Thermal renovation engineer in construction industry"
The goal was to design, offer, evaluate and refine a practical training, adapted to the current development. Aim of the courses is to have well-trained engineers and technicians with practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of thermal renovation of buildings.
Climate neutral buildings from the period of promoterism - ways, potentials and possibilities of implementation
The focus was on the goal-oriented and economic options, in order to achieve a CO2-neutral energy supply and hermetically sealed building envelope as well as to show high energy efficiency when using. On the other hand building protection regulations and the quality in use are to be considered.
Building and modernising with "Building of Tomorrow"
The project BauModern turned to non-profit and commercial housing developers and real estate managements. In close co-operation with the federations of the housing and real estate economy has been achieved that builders are informed about market-suited innovative technologies and concepts and use these strengthened for their projects both in the new building and in the refurbishment.
