Project objective
The project "Passive House - Summerschool" is a know-how transfer project with the target group of upper semester students from Austrian and foreign universities in the fields of architecture and construction engineering.
Target group
With the target group, an important concern is to invite both architects and construction engineers in order to build up and consolidate mutual understanding by common teamwork. This cooperation is fundamental because energy efficient buildings demand a very high quality. The countries of origin of the participants should also be as varied as possible in order to promote international distribution and combination.
Language
The Summer School is therefore conceived and held in English.
Duration
In a 12-days intensive workshop building in the passive house standard should competently be communicated in a concentrated form. This Summer School started in the summer of 2007.
Contents
Design and planning, construction, calculation, installations, quality assurance and user satisfaction are the topics of lectures, teamworks and practical exercises. Construction site visits and one 3-days excursion to buildings (projects within the program "Building of Tomorrow" and others), demonstrating innovative technology and high architectural quality, complete the workshop.
Teaching
The teaching experts consist of Carinthia University lecturers and researchers in the field of the passive house standard and experts of the network IG Passive House working in innovative building practice.
Results
The results reached are
- an increase of knowledge for the participants,
- consolidation and rise of motivation to work in this field and
