Green BIM - Green building infrastructure as part of BIM-based planning and maintenance
Fusion of greenery and BIM planning to achieve a friction-free conducting and maintenance. By analysing the case studies, “Green BIM” examined to what extent typical steps in planning regarding greened buildings can be edited by characteristic software programs in a BIM-equitable way. The expected outcomes are supplements to international standards for data structures in civil engineering (IFC / ISO 16739) which are further on added to BIM applications by the software industry.

HPZ-Walls - High-performance exterior brick walls without additional thermal insulation
Sustainable multi-storey housing made of bricks can only be realised if the strength of thermally optimised vertical coring bricks is tripled. This is to be achieved by changing the hole pattern, namely by reducing the air gap from 8 to 4 mm. A success of the project will form the basis for the realisation of insulation-free, 8-storey residential and office buildings in brick construction.
Szenarien für die biobasierte Industrie in Österreich (BBI-Szenarien)
Um die Umsetzung der österreichischen Bioökonomiestrategie Österreichs (BMNT, BMBWF & BMVIT, 2019) zu unterstützen, wurden drei Szenarien für die biobasierte Industrie in Österreich entwickelt. Die vorliegende Studie soll als solide Übersicht und als Startpunkt für weitere Detailstudien auch von weiteren Forscher:innen dienen.

CELL4LIFE - Reversible SOCs als Bindeglied zwischen Strom- Wärme- & Gasnetz zur Autarkie- und Resilienzsteigerung von Quartieren
Im Projekt wird ein System aus Festoxidbrennstoffzelle und einer auf Machine Learning-basierenden Regelung zur Effizienzsteigerung und Degradationsminimierung entwickelt. Als Bindeglied zwischen den Energieversorgungsnetzen (Strom, Wärme, Gas) soll das System die Autarkie sowie die Resilienz von Plus-Energie-Quartieren erhöhen.

A system consisting of a solid oxide fuel cell and a Machine Learning-based control system for increasing efficiency and minimizing degradation is being developed. As a link between all energy supply networks, the system is intended to increase the self-sufficiency and resilience of plus-energy districts.

Sophokles - Sonnenschutzlamellen mit photovoltaischer Beschichtung für klimaneutrale, energieeffiziente Strukturen
Entwicklung von leichtgewichtigen, bandförmigen Photovoltaikmodulen, welche Beschattung und emissionsfreie Stromerzeugung in einem monolithischen Bauteil vereinen. Die Photovoltaiklamellen können in Größe und Modulspannung individuell an die Gegebenheiten des Gebäudes angepasst werden. Kern der Innovation ist ein Verschaltungskonzept für Dünnschichtsolarzellen, mit dem das folienartige Photovoltaikmaterial je nach Bedarf seriell und parallel verschaltet werden kann.
CO2 neuBau - Die CO2 neutrale Baustelle: Ein Beitrag zum Klimaschutz der österreichischen Bauwirtschaft
Identifikation aller auf Baustellen anfallenden direkten und indirekten CO2- bzw. THG-Emissionen. Analyse der Rahmenbedingungen und Technologien, um Möglichkeiten für deren Steuerung aufzuzeigen. Gleichzeitig wurden Mehrwerte wie beispielsweise Kosten- und Nutzen-Vorteile einer CO2-neutralen Baustelle aufgezeigt und quantifiziert.

Identification of all direct and indirect CO2, respectively, GHG emissions generated at construction sites. Analysis of the framework conditions and technologies towards demonstrating the options for their control. In parallel, added values, such as cost-benefit advantages of a CO2-neutral construction site, were outlined and quantified.
Stanz+ - Ein innovatives, energie-flexibles Plusenergiequartier - der Ortskern der Gemeinde Stanz
Stanz+ arbeitet an der Umsetzung einer Energiestrategie für strukturschwache Gemeinden mit konkreten Maßnahmen zur Revitalisierung und Nachverdichtung im Gebäudebestand sowie der Integration erneuerbarer Energieträger am Beispiel der Gemeinde Stanz im Mürztal (Obersteiermark). Das Projekt beinhaltet multiplizierbare Ansätze in Richtung Energieautonomie, hybride Nutzung von Energienetzen zur Flexibilisierung und energetisch gedachte Dorfkernbelebung unter Einbeziehung der NutzerInnen in die „Rural Pioneers Community“ zur Nutzung von Energiedienstleistungen.

The main goal of BIMstocks is the development of a method for the digital capturing of the material composition of the existing building stock for follow up modelling of an Urban Mining Platform as well as for the prediction of the recycling potentials.
CityStore - Sondierung des wesentlichen F&E-Bedarfs zur Optimierung von städtischen Energiespeichern in integrierten Energiesystemen
In CityStore wird erstmals ein innovativer Ansatz zur räumlichen Verortung von Speicherbedarf und -potentialen verfolgt. Dies inkludiert die Evaluierung der konkreten Herausforderungen und Voraussetzungen sowie die Identifikation von sinnvollen Speichertechnologien und -kapazitäten. Dazu werden Modellrechnungen für die Vorzeigestädte Graz und Weiz durchgeführt und die Verallgemeinerungsfähigkeit der Ergebnisse anhand der Follower-Region Südburgenland untersucht. Die Resultate sollen optimierte Planung und Realisierung von städtischen Energiespeichern ermöglichen – wodurch zielgerichtet in Energieinfrastruktur zur Umsetzung von (lokalen) Klima- und Energiezielen investiert werden kann.
CityStore - Sondierung des wesentlichen F&E-Bedarfs zur Optimierung von städtischen Energiespeichern in integrierten Energiesystemen
CityStore pursues a first-of-its-kind, innovative approach on spatial location of storage needs and potentials. This includes the evaluation of concrete challenges and prerequisites as well as the identification of useful storage technologies and capacities. Model calculations for the model cities Graz and Weiz will be carried out. If, and to which extent, the results can be generalized will be investigated in the Follower Region South Burgenland. The results should enable optimized planning and realization of urban energy storage facilities – thereby enabling targeted investments in energy infrastructure to achieve (local) climate and energy targets.
