Urban district heating extended – Development of flexible and decarbonized urban district heating systems
Development of innovative urban district heating systems by integration of long-term thermal storage, large scale heat pumps, large scale solar thermal installations, waste heat recovery and analysis and evaluation by simulation. The results of this project will provide templates for technology selection, system design and merit order for new urban district heating areas.
Facade Integrated Solar Collectors
Within the framework of this project system-, structural- as well as building physical basis theories should be elaborated, which will serve as a basis for constructional and aesthetically attractive solutions for the production of facade integrated solar collectors without thermal separation. The recyclability of the materials used and resource efficiency play a central role when it comes to the development of constructional solutions.
Solar Combisystems - IEA SHC Task 26
Documentation, comparison and optimisation of solar combisystems for domestic hot water preparation and space heating in the framework of an IEA research project
Repair & Do-It-Yourself Urbanism (R&DIY-U)
The project follows the aim to analyze and to strengthen the transformative potential of Repair & Do-It-Yourself Urbanism with regard to a fundamental change of the existing poor sustainable handling of commodities in selected urban districts, their infrastructures and dominant business and private household practices into resilient areas.
G2G – Innovation axis Graz-Gleisdorf
Development of testbeds and demonstration zones within already designated areas for urban development along the Graz-Gleisdorf Innovation-Axis with a focus on energy, integrated building technology, smart city-spaces, compact settlement structures, generational living, and ‘cities of short ways’. It will pay specific attention to intermodal mobility as well as ICT-based solutions.
Development of a Cost-Benefit-Tool: costs and benefits of energy efficient and ecologic buildings
Development of a cost-benefit-tool which reaches beyond a pure cost approach and also recognizes the benefits of a building for its inhabitants and users. The inclusion of benefits is based on existing evaluation systems, especially on the Austrian building evaluation system TQB - Total Quality Building, which has been revised in 2009.
SOCO.net - Solar Cooling Network for AUSTR(AL)IA
The main goal was to establish a long-term cooperation for "Solar Cooling" between the Austria Solar Innovation Center (ASiC) and the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES) at the renowned Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. Combining the competences of both institutes immediately offers the chance to boost the penetration of the European and the Australian market with this new technology for cooling in sustainable buildings.
Zero Carbon Village - energy autarcic settlement
Development and demonstration of a totally CO2 neutral and energy self sufficient residential area, produced in prefabricated straw bale constructions. The focus of the research is put on industrialized modular mass production of "Zero Carbon Houses", energy self sufficiency and the use of energy efficient and sustainable materials like straw.
Development of a solid-wood-passivehouse-window
Based on experience with low-energy-windows, a solid wood window is being developed, which meets passivehouse-standards.
M-DAB2: Material intensity of inner development - resource assessment and localization of urban development potentials
For the first time, the material intensity of inner development (in terms of material quantities) for different design variants was considered in the evaluation of inner development potentials. A set of methods for the holistic evaluation of potential areas and different development variants and scenarios for resource-saving inner development was created.
Systemic renovation in the social housingsector
This project treats a global renovation of a residential estate built in the 1960s in the context of council housing in a laggard region. The point is to optimise with a systemic approach in a interdisciplinary team all partitions which include habitation.
Innovative Refurbishment of Single Family Houses
Evaluation of best-practice models and recommendations to support dissemination
S I P settlement models in passive house quality
Research, development and realization of integral building concepts in passive house quality!
Sorption cooling and air dehumidification device
Solar-assisted air-conditioning in combination with comfortable controlled ventilation systems soon possible and affordably for building owners. With a new part DEC-systems should become acceptance.
Urban Future - "Resource Efficient City of Tomorrow"
Challenges fort he cities of tomorrow with research issues referring to resource management, efficiency and technology development
AIDA – Affirmative Integrated Energy Design Action
The AIDA project aimed to increase the number of nearly-zero-energy-buildings, the number of building professionals trained on integrated energy design and the number of municipalities starting to build/refurbish buildings to nZEB levels.
Small wind turbines for households and companies
In a practical way the project showed that with optimised small wind turbines a useful potential of wind power can also be generated at different suitable locations with low wind conditions directly at households and companies.
Demoobject energy-autarkic solarplant
Within the project at hand a production plant with store house and offices had been constructed. It serves as a reality testing field for long-term measurement of components and systems developed in previous projects. It serves for the demonstration of innovative energy systems and components for the interested public and for experts.
New standards for old houses - concrete
The campaign is, orientated on the target group, a linked extension of the reconstruction guidance "Neue Standards für alte Häuser" ("New standards for old houses") on the building trade and subconstruction work as well as on the awarding authority.
PEQBacker: Integrated District Planning - Enabler on the way to a Plus-Energy District
Development of guidelines for the implementation of Plus-Energy District coordination units based on research of success factors, exploration of mission elements of existing structures and consultation of a broad stakeholder group with the goal of increasing the transformation of existing and emerging neighbourhoods toward Plus-Energy Districts.
