Serial refurbishment for buildings in timber construction
Refurbishment of single- and two-familiy houses in timber construction in Austria has a large CO2-saving potential. To meet the special requirements for the refurbishment of timber constructions, a concept for the renovation to passive house respectively plus-energy house standard with special focus on ecologic construction materials was developed in this project.
Buildings of highest energy-efficiency with integrated renewable energy development
For the future supply of energy services the combination of energy efficiency, energy storage and decentralized use of renewable energy in buildings offers itself. The goal of this project was to develop guidelines for hygienic and cost-efficient mechanical ventilation systems in residential buildings, in which maintenance and cleaning demands are described. These guidelines are based on existing literature as well as practical experience of the property owners, finally they are based on results of hygienic measurements in existing ventilation systems conducted in this research project.

The "Climate Scan District" project aims to select the most suitable pioneer district in Dornbirn by applying the klima:aktiv criteria catalog for climate-neutral districts. Im Projekt "WISE" werden Sicherheitskonzepte für den Leckage-Fall entwickelt, bei dem brennbares Kältemittel aus dem Kältekreislauf austritt. Diese Konzepte sollen ein höheres Maß an Sicherheit für die Installation im Wohnbereich gewährleisten als es die aktuell gültige Sicherheitsnorm fordert.

Entwicklung von Kriterien der Ästhetik und der sozialen Inklusion auf Basis der Werte des New European Bauhaus ergänzend zu bestehenden Nachhaltigkeitskriterien, um Gebäude und Quartiere breiter bewerten zu können. Da die heute notwendige Transformation der Ökonomie stets auch kulturelle und soziale Aspekte umfasst, ist eine derartige breitere Bewertung sinnvoller als heute übliche Methoden.

Bewertung und Erprobung unterschiedlicher Energieverteilungsansätze in einem Quartier unter Verwendung von Direktleitungen, Speichern oder neuer rechtlicher Möglichkeiten durch das Elektrizitätswirtschaftsgesetz (ElWG). Das Projekt baut auf dem bestehenden Direktleitungssystem in Thannhausen auf und wird dort unterschiedliche Use-Cases für die (klimaneutrale) Versorgung von Quartieren erproben.
