Based on a building typology, strategies for prefabrication for high-quality thermic-energetic renovation of school buildings were developed. New solutions for ventilation systems to achieve good air quality and shading systems were analysed and tested. The "School vent cool" method for renovation of schools has been developed.
BIGMODERN - Sustainable refurbishment standards of federal buildings constructed between 1950 and 1980
The project aims at developing sustainability and climate protection criteria for the refurbishment of federal buildings of the postwar period. These criteria will be tested for their practical suitability within the framework of demonstration projects. On the basis of the commercial building gugler with 2140 m² useable floor area existing and 3260 m² useable floor area to be built a concept for a 100% recyclable ecoeffective building will be developed.
SIMULTAN - Simultaneous planning environment for buildings in resilient, highly energy efficient and resource-efficient districts
This project enabled the opportunity for an essential energy efficiency increase within overlapping buildings, to achieve the objective of resilient cities and districts with respect to a high quality of life, resource sustainability and energy efficiency. The goal was a workable tool based on a multidisciplinary planning approach, to support the decision finding process in order to design both refurbishment projects and new developments within a highly efficient city.

ECR Energy City Graz-Reininghaus: Urban strategies for the new conception, construction, operation and restructuring of an energy self-sufficient city district
The aim is the development of a valid set of specific values and a guideline as a basis for energy self-sufficient district development. Based on the results, a masterplan (energy-network) for the district Graz-Reininghaus shall be developed. Future-oriented "city-building-blocks" will be implemented as flagships of innovation.
Development of high quality ecological solutions for thermal insulation systems on the basis of reed
Exterior and interior insulation systems containing reed as insulation material were developed. The solutions integrate insulation material, fastening and plaster (as well as optional heating for the interior insulation). A concept for the renovation of an old building using a reed insulation system was developed.

The research project examined different forms of communal living of elderly people and contributes to the development of new, common forms of living for the elderly. Questions concerning demographic change and economic as well as ecologic challenges of our time had been dealt with.

Development of basic principles and proposals for highly recyclable constructions. A catalogue with main principles of recyclable designing with a particular focus on material inherent bonding and joint techniques as well as a selection of constructions including ecological benchmarks, calculation of building physics plus costs was created.
