ReHABITAT-Settlement: Sustainable rehabilitation and activation of a single-family housing estate in Mistelbach
Exploration of a sustainable single-family house redevelopment, with a holistically conceived definition of sustainability that starts with people, is based on sufficiency and also takes into account green and open spaces, social factors and mobility. The result is an integrated overall concept at the house and settlement level, and a transferable approach for other communities.
LZE 100 Lighthouse Objects - Long-term evaluation of the energy consumption of 100 energy-efficient buildings in Austria as a representative cross-section of Austrian lighthouse objects
Collection, evaluation and analysis of energy consumption data from 100 energy-efficient buildings in Austria over an operating time of 3 to 25 years as a representative cross-section of Austrian lighthouse objects. Differentiation according to building types, energy sources and determination of real greenhouse gas emissions. Comparison of the measured consumption to benchmark values.
Hook-and-Loop fastener application for the technical building equipment
The aim of this exploration study is to explore a possible systematic change that will allow for a more universal application of Hook-and-Loop (or similar) fasteners in the construction industry, especially in building installation phase.
"Gasthermenersatz" - Modular heat pump with environmentally friendly refrigerant to replace natural gas-based heating systems in large-scale residential buildings
The project "Gasthermenersatz" aims at developing, manufacturing, and testing a functional prototype of a decentralized, sound-optimized heat pump solution with refrigerant circuit modules connected in series or parallel. This renewable technology is well-suited to replace existing natural gas-based heating systems in large-scale residential buildings and to pave the way to carbon-neutral cities.
Intensified Density - a small scale densification strategy for the suburbs by using modular construction
The project investigated whether a small scale densification strategy for the suburbs / intermediary cities, using modular construction, and existing infrastructure on empty plots of land, can offer a competing alternative to not only the sprawl of single family dwellings but also to large projects.
The Green Parking Space – Utilization of urban parking areas for production of biomass
Many traffic areas in urban environments are actually used as such only a small fraction of the time. Subject of this project was to investigate the possibility of using those areas by additional integration of photobioreactors for the production of biomass, integrating such systems to the maximum extent into the urban substance and energy cycles.
Building as living lab - Buildings as a living lab for climate-neutral, needs-based and affordable housing
Within ÖWG, climate protection and sustainability are strategically anchored in renovation and densification projects. A comprehensive, climate-neutral renovation concept had been developed for a specific pilot property in Graz in an open, co-creative innovation process. The building becomes a living lab in which new solutions are tested in the everyday lives of the residents.
PROJECT(_)SPACE_ BUILDING_ FUTURE
Knowledge transfer, communication and discussion of the results of the Building of Tomorrow programme in the fields of architecture, planning, construction and companies in the building industry.
Bluetooth home control system
Purpose of this project was to realise a wireless intelligent home, that can be radio controlled from each bluetooth compatible mobile (2 mrd in curculation all over around the world). Entrence, security and also to control electrical devices where the cornerstones of this project.
VERTICAL FARMING - Investigation on requirements of a Vertical Farm-prototype development for crop plant production
In the center of interest stands the investigation of fundamental principles for a new building typology – the Vertical Farm. Urban vertical food production can contribute to more energy efficient cities by concurrently reducing land use. Substantial influencing factors to achieve these goals are intended to be revealed.
BIMSavesEnergy - BIM-based planning-methods for the assurance of energy-efficiency in the building process
The Building Information Model (BIM) brings about fundamental changes in the planning and construction of buildings, as the common base makes it possible to work closely together across disciplines in construction projects. In this project, BIM-based planning methods were developed, which make the influence of planning decisions on energy efficiency quantifiable and controllable in the management process.
Plus Energy Melk - Path for the realization of Plus-Energy-Districs in Melk
The city of Melk has set itself the goal of playing a pioneering role in renewable energy supply and climate protection. In this context, an initiative aimed at implementing Positive Energy Districts. Two urban development projects are currently underway to examine under which framework conditions, technical and organisational solutions Positive Energy Districts can be realised. A proactive participation process aims at informing developers and investors as well as other stakeholders about the realization of PlusEnergy concepts.
Housing 4.0 - digital platform for affordable living
The main aim of this project is the development of an integrated framework for the digital platform "Housing 4.0"; thus supporting integrated planning and project delivery through coupling various digital tools and databases. Thereby, the potentials of BIM for modular, off-site housing assembly in order to improve planning and construction processes, reduce cost and construction time and allow for mass customization will be explored. The novel approach in this project is user-involvement; which has been neglected in recent national and international projects on off-site, modular construction, supported by digital technologies.
COOL-QUARTER-PLUS - GHG-neutral cooling of office and research quarters
Development of systems for the emission-neutral cooling of office, research and urban quarters on the basis of photovoltaic or geothermal energy supply and user integration. Life cycle cost calculations and analyses of grey and operational greenhouse gas emissions allow a holistic assessment.
Enerspired Cities - open and harmonized infomation basis for energy oriented urban planning
In "Enerspired Cities" the concept for an automized junction of judicial secured access regulation to (geo-)energy data is elaborated. This will be adapted to the specific situations in the cities of Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna and implemented in dedicated pilot applications. The declared aim is the support of urban planning, monitoring and research by an easy and transparent access to base data coming from various sources for a wide range of users.
Probing for PV façade systems made of lightweight plastic modules with reversible fittings for new and old buildings (PV-FAS_light + easy)
Probing for a new, simple, cost-effective and building-integrated PV facade system made of plastic PV modules through initial investigations for fixing technology, for building physics, for fire protection and for electrical engineering concerning the usability, the areas of applicability and the yield and application potentialfor new buildings and for existing buildings.
e80^3-Buildings - Sub project 1: Basics
Goal of this subproject was to select the building with the highest potential within a building-portfolio. Therefore a criteria catalogue was developed, which is generally applicable.
