The main focus of the project is the adaptation of optical sensor concepts for application in building technology. Innovation & Cost efficiency: Building standards for multi family residential buildings at optimal cost (Inno-Cost)
In this project, innovative building standards were examined concerning their economical aspects through the life cycle of a building. By means of life cycle-costs for 40-50 multi family lowest energy and passive house residential buildings on actual data from the day-to-day operation, reliable data and know-how was compiled for the first time, which is to support further market penetration of innovative building standards in the field of multi family residential buildings.
Sustainable ventilation systems in multi story residential buildings in the conflict areas of hygiene and costs
The goal of this project was to develop guidelines for hygienic and cost-efficient mechanical ventilation systems in residential buildings, in which maintenance and cleaning demands are described. These guidelines are based on existing literature as well as practical experience of the property owners, finally they are based on results of hygienic measurements in existing ventilation systems conducted in this research project.

Thermocollect - Solar active facade system, using direct solar radiation for temperature conditioning of buildings
The new Thermocollect Energy-Facade System allows to utilize the solar radiation that hits the facade on a on-demand-basis. The system works with a mechanically active mechanism which selectively gathers the solar radiation and additionally can be used as a cooling and heating system according to the local requirements.

Print and media production at the media and communications company gugler GmbH are currently being optimized according to Cradle to Cradle (C2C) criteria. The goal of this subproject is to allow the demands of a C2C production process optimized for exchange with biological cycles to be included into the general planning of the new production building of the company, a pilot project within the "building of tomorrow" program line.
