The project objective is the measurement of relevant building values (energy consumption, ...), the evaluation of these values compared with the intended objectives and the optimization of the system based on the measured data. EnergyCityConcepts - Methods and concepts for the implementation of sustainable energy systems in cities

Two concrete model regions (small city Gleisdorf and urban city quarter Salzburg-Schallmoos) will be developed and tested using new methodical approaches (interdisciplinary urban and regional energy planning, modeling and simulation). Therefore, it is aimed to substantiate scenarios and concepts for the implementation of defined targets on technical, ecological and economic criteria.

The integration of key stakeholder views allowed an extensive evaluation and prioritisation of research topics for the "city of the future". The discussion had been organised in workshops with stakeholder groups (public administration, science & research, residents).

PRoBateS - Potentials of planning and building legislation for energetically sustainable city structures

The aims of this project are to analyse planning and building legislation in order to identify barriers, potentials and suitable courses of action for energy-orientated policy measures. Specific policy recommendations are developed with a view to increasing the sustainability of energy-related city structures. For these purposes the project combines two different disciplinary approaches: a thorough legal analysis and a spatial structure and quantitative impact assessment.

FM.Comfort/FM.Ware - Software for optimizing the use of energie and other resources in the virtual house

The expert system FM.Comfort/FM.Ware realizes the so called virtual house (vh). The virtual house is the computer model of a real building. This computer model supports the optimization of the use of energy and other resources by analysis of the life and work habits of the residents and the positive influence on inhabitants-behaviours (user motivation).

For the major resource intensive commercial sectors the real function of products will be ana-lysed and elaborated how to provide the function of the product without selling it. Development and evaluation of a process to automatically create models from existing production data of industrial plants. These models can be used to optimize the production process and plant equipment (scrap, quality, use of raw materials and energy) or to detect and predict faults.

The project focused on passive house elements from straw and clay. Special interest was paid at a novel straw insulation as well as at an efficient drying process of the clay. Sustainability of the building materials was a very important aspect within the project.

EDEN - Developement of a structured data and preparation documentation with a minimized error-proneness for energy performance cerificates.

Current energy performance certificates hold major flaws. Therefore, the presented research initiative aimed at the development of a standardized and easy-to-use, generic Input-Data-Documentation, which ensures the quality of energy certificates for all involved stakeholders. During the development, the documentation had been conducted and for a chosen sample of representative buildings, which is expected to demonstrate the high potential of such a development.

SUPROMED: Reprocessing and Reuse of Single Use Medical Devices in the Light of Sustainable Development Criteria - Implementation in Austria

In contrast to other countries there is currently no reprocessing and reuse of single use medical devices in Austria. Thus the potential for major ecological and economical savings remains unused. In a stakeholder dialogue, practical implementation strategies were developed to change the trend towards a sustainable value-added chain.

Based on a research and on an evaluation of existing teaching materials teachers and students will develop, how students understand the topic "climate protection" with a focus on "building and living in the future" the easiest way.
