educational Ecodesign game
Development of a concept and method for the required data for an Ecodesign learning game. The intended use of this game is in schools and youth organisations for disseminating basis knowledge of sustainable product development to support green consumption.
Smart Metering consumption
The project Smart Metering consumption focused on the energy consumption of the future smart metering infrastructure - an issue not widely discussed until now.
Integration by Cooperation
The aim of the project was to assess which forms and conditions of interaction can foster the integration of higher shares of distributed generation into the Austrian electricity grid.
Two days of Sustainability
During a two days training course managers are trained in sustainable management.
De-lacquering as a service
Development of the service of de-lacquering in industrial plants on the basis of pulsed high pressure water with a new, energy efficient high pressure pump. Further possible applications will be searched for and evaluated.
Hook-and-Loop fastener application for the technical building equipment
The aim of this exploration study is to explore a possible systematic change that will allow for a more universal application of Hook-and-Loop (or similar) fasteners in the construction industry, especially in building installation phase.
Sustainable quarter "Aspern"
The development concept for the new quarter in Vienna (a former airfield) demands a great deal of sustainability: overall energy strategy, sustainability criteria as financial incentives for applicants for building permits and construction of sustainable and energy efficient buildings.
Working Party on Industrial Decarbonisation (WPID)
The aim of the Working Party on Industrial Decarbonisation WPID is to provide a platform with a focus on key aspects towards accelerating industrial decarbonisation. The initial focus area of the WPID will be on definitions related to what constitutes climate friendly production standards in heavy industry and how these standards can support successful decarbonisation policies. Thus WPID is working together with IEA members as well as relevant globale private and public stakeholder and supports the IEA office in reporting, benchmarking and foresight.

IEA-SHC Task 50: Advanced Lighting Solutions for Retrofitting Buildings
Retrofitting of non-residential buildings with energy efficient daylight and artificial lighting solutions can significantly contribute to reductions in electric energy consumption. However, appropriate technologies have to be made available to the stakeholders (investors, industry, consultants, designer) that are involved in the retrofitting process. Thus, system solutions for daylighting and artificial lighting were evaluated, simple rating and evaluation tools were developed and case studies that serve as best practice examples were monitored. The results were collected in the Lighting Retrofit Advisor, which helps stakeholders within the lighting retrofit process.
Materials Roadmap Austria
Elements for the discussion for Technology Platforms, R&D Programs and decision makers in R&D Policy
Energy system - Industrial region
Analysis of success factors, restrictions and risks on the development and implementation process caused by the system integration of renewable energy technology in industrial regions with higher energy demand.
IEA Bioenergy Task "GHG Balances"
Participation in the investigation net of the IEA Bioenergy to greenhouse gas balance of biomass and bioenergetics systems as well as coordination of the Austrian participation in IEA Bioenergy.
IEA EV Task 52: EVs and Circularity
Electric vehicles have specific challenges to reach circularity, which must be identified and solved adequately. Circularity issues are relevant in all phases of the life cycle – production, use and end of life – so circularity is strongly linked to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of electric vehicles. Austria leads this task and is responsible for the scientific assessment of circularity in LCA. Relevant case studies for the Austrian industry are analysed and the national R&D demand is identified.
"Gasthermenersatz" - Modular heat pump with environmentally friendly refrigerant to replace natural gas-based heating systems in large-scale residential buildings
The project "Gasthermenersatz" aims at developing, manufacturing, and testing a functional prototype of a decentralized, sound-optimized heat pump solution with refrigerant circuit modules connected in series or parallel. This renewable technology is well-suited to replace existing natural gas-based heating systems in large-scale residential buildings and to pave the way to carbon-neutral cities.
