ISGAN Annex 6 Workshop: Interaction of Power Transmission and Distribution in the Smart Grid

In which way will the upcoming innovation technologies for the distribution grids alter the interaction between distribution and transportation grid? Are the concepts of the local facilitators compatible with the optimization strategies of the transnational trading schemes? IEA “International Smart Grid Action Network” - Annex 6 on “Power Transmission and Distribution System” is addressing this challenge. Aim of the workshop is to discuss the future interaction of distribution and transmission network interconnection requirements, controls and grid policies.

The workshop addresses experts and delegates of the ISGAN partner countries.

Smart Grids ERA-NET Event No. 2: „Smart Grids for Smart Cities“ (Part I)

In the framework of ERA-Net Smart Grids a series of workshops have been performed with selected stakeholders and programme managers of national programs in Europe. They elaborate joint transnational research programmes for smart grids. Especially the “ERA-Net Plus” call is going to be prepared. In this workshop the role of smart grids for the implementation of smart cities will be discussed, future research areas defined and research questions identified. The role of smart grids for the implementation in smart cities is subject of this workshop. The research area will be defined and concrete open research questions will be identified. This event is targeted to experts from smart grids and smart cities R&D and demonstration projects as well as policy makers and program managers of national funding programs.

Information Workshop: Possibilities for Promoting Trans-National Projects

Recently strong R&D initiatives were developed in some European countries. These are already in a position to demonstrate interesting results and they might contribute substantially to the pan-European development. In a next step the cooperation of these initiatives and projects might help to learn from each other’s experiences and to join forces to further develop the projects. Funding options are available on EU as well as on national levels for transnational projects. These funding mechanisms will be presented, their time frame will be explained and the links to the most concrete calls will be communicated.
