Rückblick: IEA Vernetzungsworkshop 2011

Am 9ten März fand der jährliche Vernetzungsworkshop der nationalen Akteure innerhalb der IEA-Forschungskooperation statt. Mit ca. 50 TeilnehmerInnen war der Workshop ein voller Erfolg und bot den Anwesenden einen umfassenden Überblick über aktuelle Themen der Internationalen Energieagentur (IEA).

ZEBdemo - Development and demonstration of a scalable zero emission building for the realization of climate-neutral cities

The ZEBdemo project is developing and demonstrating a scalable zero-emission building that drastically reduces CO2 equivalent emissions during the construction phase by using building materials such as clay bricks and straw insulation. At the same time, operational emissions are minimized through an intelligent, data-driven energy management system.

ModularHeatNet

The aim of the project is to support Ottensheim in phasing out fossil fuels and deve­lo­ping a "climate-neutral" heat supply. As a result, the community will receive a solid decision-making basis based on the technical, economic, organizational, and environ­mental comparison of the examined heat supply approaches.

Cascading BIOMATTERS for wellness and life-style

This application oriented and basic research aims to develop a pilot-master-project in the region of eastern Styria and Burgenland for the cascading use of regional cultivated plants and plant-residues in order to produce wellness and lifestyle-products - by which the creation of value is strongly realated to the functional qualities of the available biomatters.

Green Biorefinery - Development of key separation technologies to extract lactic acid and other valuable substances from silage juice

Juice from pressed silage grass has a high content of lactate and free amino acids. The goal of this project is to develop a technology for the separation of these valuable products.

Villach KlimaFit - Municipal Transformation Process to Achieve Climate Neutrality in Villach

The strategic framework for achieving climate neutrality has been decided in Villach and the city itself can already point to good results in its own sphere of action (buildings, photovoltaics). However, the lack of own energy and mobility operations, the type and scope of construction/investment projects (third-party projects) and the limited scope for action in strategic development topics (little land owned by the city of Villach) require the adaptation (transformation) of municipal instruments in order to implement climate neutrality holistically.

Autology - the automated ontology generator

Ontologies form the basis for the acquisition, analysis/processing, utilization, documentation, and archiving of building and component data throughout all stages of the lifecycle. Currently, the semantic description and structuring of data can only be achieved with significant manual effort. At this point, the Autology project utilizes Artificial Intelligence. The overarching project objective is the automated extraction and generation of metadata for the creation of ontologies from the building automation system, employing innovative AI-based approaches.

NUCLEUS - Sustainable Urban Clusters for Climate-Neutral, Efficient, and Eco-Friendly Urban Develop­ment

The exploratory project NUCLEUS examines how Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) can serve as catalysts for positive urban developments. The climate pioneer district Tagger Areal in Graz serves as a case study. The project aims to identify technical and regulatory challenges and develop future-proof energy concepts to enable the ex­change of electricity, heat, and cooling with surrounding industrial enterprises.

Circular Bio Floor- Floor construction made from biomaterials

In this project biogenic building materials from wood industry waste and geopolymer binders are developed that can be used as tamped fill or 3D-printed dry-screed elements in timber construction. These materials offer functional benefits and an excellent eco-balance, contribute to the conservation of forests and enable the production of separable and reusable floor segment panels using digital manufacturing technologies. That significantly reduces the consumption of primary raw materials.
