The task analysed user requirements as well as existing technologies and design methods and documented exemplary implementations in case studies.

Build4Climate - Demonstration building with a climate room concept at the Innovation Quarter Lavanttal in Carinthia

A new train station is being built near the exit portal of the future Koralm railway tunnel in Carinthia, in connection with a CO2-neutral technology park. The innovative entrance building of the newly developed area will be implemented as a frontrunner with a 'climate room' concept based on thermal component activation and extensive use of renewable energy sources.

"Green Biorefinery - Utilitsation of Grass Fibres"

Basic properties of grass fibres from a green biorefinery will be investigated in order to have a sound base for comparison of grass fibres with other renewable fibres. Selected prototype-products with these grass fibres as main raw material source (e.g. insulation materials, gardening material, animal nutrition) will be developed, tested and evaluated whether they are technologically as well as economically feasible.

IEA SHC Task 62: Solar Energy in Industrial Water and Wastewater Management

The main objective of IEA SHC Task 62 was to increase the use of solar thermal energy in industry, to develop new collector technologies and to open up industrial and municipal water treatment as a new area of application with high market potential for solar thermal energy. The focus was on thermal separation technologies as well as technologies for solar water decontamination and disinfection. By combining the technologies with solar collectors, an innovative and economically attractive overall solution should be created for integration into industry.

Monitoring and comparison of performance of thermally activated building components in two similarly built, inhabited detached houses with different energy sources (wind and solar power). HOTSPOTS enables new insights and perspectives for city development. According to the project idea innovations in acquisition and sensing as well as densification of geo-referenced city related data are supple­mented by novel processing chains in city data analytics. Driven by an integrated scientific approach we develop a novel method in the selec­tion, evaluation and prioritization of infrastructural city development measures which is directly derived from sensed data hence reducing the risk of ad-hoc decisions or lack in impact.
