Real-world renovation experiences from the perspective of building owners, design teams and SHC Task 59 experts will be presented and discussed.
IEA Hydrogen Task 41: Analysis and Modelling of Hydrogen Technologies
IEA Hydrogen Task 41 focused on the current representation of hydrogen and its utilization pathways in various models and approaches to improve them. Different levels of modelling were considered: Choice of appropriate modelling approach, structural representation of hydrogen use chains, as well as data needed for this.
IEA 4E TCP-PECTA: Power Electronic Conversion Technology (Working period 2019 - 2021)
The IEA 4E Power Electronic Conversion Technology Annex (PECTA) aims to evaluate the efficiency potential related to the integration of Wide Bandgap (WBG) based power semiconductors for relevant applications and to act as an independent knowledge platform. In the first work period, energy savings have been initially assessed for selected applications, a roadmap for WBG materials was derived and the work plan for PECTA's Phase 2 was defined.

IEA IETS Annex 15: Industrial Excess Heat Recover (Phase 3)
Within the framework of the IEA IETS Annex 15 (Phase 3), potentials for the use of waste heat as well as technologies for its integration are collected, bundled and processed through contributions from national research activities. The contributions of the Austrian consortium included technology development and integration concepts of heat pump and energy storage systems, risk analysis in the implementation of waste heat projects, and work on operation optimization and design of hybrid energy systems.
IEA 4E: Annex Electric Motor Systems. Working period 2021 - 2024
The goal of the Annex Electric Motor Systems is to raise awareness on the large savings potential in motor systems, while showing the realization method of such a path. After publishing the policy and audit guidelines for motor systems Austria leads the task „New Industrial Developments and Digitalization in Motor Systems“.

23. April 2020
Online
The aim of the half-day webinar was to provide insights into energy communities and their opportunities and challenges arising from current market and regulatory regimes. More than 300 participants from 28 countries took part in the webinar.
IEA 4E: Annex Electric Motor Systems. Working period 2019 - 2021
The goal of the Annex Electric Motor Systems is to raise awareness on the large savings potential in motor systems, while showing the realization method of such a path. After publishing the policy and audit guidelines for motor systems Austria leads the task „New Industrial Developments and Digitalization in Motor Systems“.
IEA-4E Annex Electric Motor Systems (EMSA). (Working period 2014-2017)
The goal of the Annex Electric Motor Systems is to raise awareness on the large savings potential in motor systems, while showing the realization method of such a path. Currently, Austria leads the task Energy Audits for Motor Systems to develop recommendations for carrying out energy audits for motor systems based on international standards.
IEA 4E: Annex Electric Motor Systems. Working period 2017 - 2019
The goal of the Annex Electric Motor Systems is to raise awareness on the large savings potential in motor systems, while showing the realization method of such a path. After publishing the „Policy Guidelines for Electric Motor Systems“ and recommendations for carrying out energy audits for motor systems based on international standards Austria analysed the impact of industrial automation on electricity consumption and the motor market.
IEA DHC Annex XIII Project 07: CASCADE - A comprehensive toolbox for integrating low-temperature sub-networks in existing district heating networks
The majority of urban district heating networks operate at high temperatures, which are a barrier to the efficient integration of heat sources such as solar, geothermal, ambient or low temperature waste heat. CASCADE is investigating the integration of low-temperature networks into the return pipe of existing district heating networks, which will reduce return temperatures and thus improve efficiency and increase its capacity to connect new customers.
IEA DHC Annex XIII Project 02: MEMPHIS 2.0 - Advanced algorithm for spatial identification, evaluation of temporal availability and economic assessment of waste heat sources and their local representation
The identification and integration of waste heat sources is a key measure towards the decarbonisation district heating networks (DHN). Aim of MEMPHIS 2 is to develop an improved algorithm for identification of different current and future waste heat sources; including time relations of the heat emitted and techno-economic details as well as the further development of the online waste heat explorer.
