IEA 4E Annex Electronic Devices and Networks Annex - EDNA (working period 2017 – 2019) Task 3: "Intelligent efficiency". Project: "Basket of products testing"
The goal is the active participation and the representation of the Austrian position and interests in EDNA as well as exchange with and dissemination of results. Further, Austria shall contribute to Task 3 “Intelligent Effficiency” (IE) and the project “Basket of products testing”, in the form of documented measurements of the energy demand of selected products in network standby mode. Austria collaborates with Switzerland on two concept papers, namely „IoT as enabler“ and „Energy harvesting technolgies“. Two further concept papers on the topics “Energy monitoring systems” and “Efficiency of e-vehicle charging” will be prepared by Austria and brought to the EDNA working plan.
Promotion of energy efficiency of poly-phase electric AC motors and motor systems in relevant applications as pumps, fans, compressors and mechanical drives that are generally used in industry, infrastructure and large buildings. This work also included new technologies such as frequency inverters (adjustable speed drive) and permanent magnet motors.
In the Mapping and Benchmarking work (formerly M&B Annex) the following product were analyzed: domestic refrigeration (update), dishwashers, settop boxes, transformers and lights, for which this report includes most relevant results and the related M&B publications. It also introduces the 2015-2016 work on motors, liquid chillers, and water boilers.
The Power Electronic Conversion Technology Annex (PECTA) is planned as a new Annex to the IEA 4E TCP. PECTA shall assess the efficiency benefit of using the emerging WBG technology. PECTA will serve as base for policy makers and independent knowledge platform for all different types of stakeholders and all kind of parties interested in efficiency potential and integration of WBG.
The goal of the Annex Electric Motor Systems is to raise awareness on the large savings potential in motor systems, while showing the realization method of such a path. After publishing the „Policy Guidelines for Electric Motor Systems“ and recommendations for carrying out energy audits for motor systems based on international standards Austria will analyse the impact of industrial automation on electricity consumption and the motor market.
The 4E Technology Collaboration Programme is an international cooperation to promote energy efficient end-use equipment (4E). It focuses on household products, electric motors, lighting and electronic devices. The activities are carried out in three specific Annexes and a number of joint Mapping and Benchmarking (M&B) projects. The currently active Annexes are: Electric Motor Systems (EMSA), Solid State Lighting (SSL), and Electronic Devices and Networks (EDNA).
The goal of the Annex Electric Motor Systems is to raise awareness on the large savings potential in motor systems, while showing the realization method of such a path. Currently, Austria leads the task Energy Audits for Motor Systems to develop recommendations for carrying out energy audits for motor systems based on international standards.
