Online
This series of webinars focused on the rationale and advantages of onshore, nearshore and offshore infrastructure projects, the technological, regulatory, environmental and economic challenges, the lessons learned so far and the unknowns to be addressed and solved.
Zero Carbon Buildings International - Evaluation and Analysis
Analysis of the performance of a demonstration building on the Philippines and potential for transferability to other developing and newly industrialising countries.
ISGAN Annex 7: Smart Grid Transitions – on Institutional Change
The International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) aims at fostering the global implementation of Smart Grids. Annex 7 – Smart Grid Transitions deals with the related challenges regarding institutional change and socio-technical transition of the electricity systems.
digiactiv - digital transformation for more interactivity in MEP-(mechanical, electrical and plumbing-)planning
The aim of the digiactiv project was to improve the interoperability between the different stakeholders in the building construction sector using open and neutral semantic data models. With digital transformation processes, digiactiv helps to increase the quality of planning and the operation of buildings, as well as to minimize the interface risk between various stakeholders.
CHALLENGE - Highly efficient use of hot gas and waste heat in air/water heat pumps for plus-energy buildings and quarters
CHALLENGE aims to further develop the system concept for air-to-water heat pumps in such a way that they can be used efficiently and without the above mentioned negative effects in densely built-up urban areas. In concrete terms, validated simulations and a functional model of the overall system on a laboratory scale are to be used to demonstrate that the concept can save 10% of electrical energy, reduce the noise of outdoor units in summer to a minimum and prevent the formation of local heat islands.
RENEWnow - New impulses for the highly efficient energetic renovation of multi-storey buildings and districts
Exploration of an innovative approach for the highly efficient renovation of apartment buildings in Austria. The aim is to develop a new service model (one-stop shop) for property managers and owner associations through a targeted, novel mix of technical and non-technical measures.
Sophokles - Solar shading lamellas with photovoltaic coating for climate-neutral, energy-efficient structures
Development of lightweight, strip-like photovoltaic modules that combine shading and emission-free power generation in one monolithic component. The size and module voltage of the photovoltaic blinds can be individually adapted to the conditions of the building. The core of the innovation is an interconnection concept for thin-film solar cells, with which the film-like photovoltaic material can be interconnected in series and in parallel as required.
TwinLight - BIM-based implementation of daylight and artificial lighting controls
A merging of trade-specific systems in an integral context, a faster applicability of new ICT-technologies, an automation of on-site commissioning of control systems and a mapping of energy data in the digital twin are to be made possible by means of transferring the control logic into the digital building model and via an open bidirectional system architecture (BIM2Control and Control2BIM).
AR-AQ-Bau - Use of Augmented Reality for acceptance and quality assurance on construction sites
The aim of this research project is the development of a construction site-suitable augmented reality (AR) system included a Remote-Expert-System and a BIM-Closed-Loop data transfer system for improving the quality of construction, building security and energy efficiency as well as increasing the efficiency of construction investigation.
Green BIM - Green building infrastructure as part of BIM-based planning and maintenance
Fusion of greenery and BIM planning to achieve a friction-free conducting and maintenance. By analysing the case studies, “Green BIM” examined to what extent typical steps in planning regarding greened buildings can be edited by characteristic software programs in a BIM-equitable way. The expected outcomes are supplements to international standards for data structures in civil engineering (IFC / ISO 16739) which are further on added to BIM applications by the software industry.
Circular Economy Summit Austria 2024
28. May 2024
Expedithalle, Absberggasse 27, 1100 Vienna
The event aims to discuss best practice policies from European countries and facilitate the exchange between decision makers.
HPZ-Walls - High-performance exterior brick walls without additional thermal insulation
Sustainable multi-storey housing made of bricks can only be realised if the strength of thermally optimised vertical coring bricks is tripled. This is to be achieved by changing the hole pattern, namely by reducing the air gap from 8 to 4 mm. A success of the project will form the basis for the realisation of insulation-free, 8-storey residential and office buildings in brick construction.
Scenarios for the Biobased Industry in Austria
In order to support the implementation of the Austrian Bioeconomy Strategy, three scenarios for the bio-based industry in Austria were developed. The present study is intended to serve as a solid overview and as a starting point for further detailed studies by other researchers.
