Bei einer Photovoltaikanlage im alpinen Gebiet, bei der zwei unterschiedliche Typen von Glas/Backsheet-Modulen verwendet wurden, zeigt - bei identischen Umgebungs und Betriebsbedingungen - eine Type nach wenigen Jahren Risse im Backsheet, während die andere keine Schäden aufweist.

Nacht Electrolumineszenzaufnahme zweier Photovoltaikmodule, die von potentialinduzierter Degradation betroffen sind, mittels einer Spiegelreflexkamera, bei der der Infrarotfilter vor dem CCD-Chip entfernt wurde. Verschlusszeit 240s, 10A Strom in Vorwärtsrichtung. Zellen an den Rändern sind weniger hell als in der Mitte, was auf niedrigen Parallelwiderstand hinweist.

Im Rahmen der internationalen Kooperation im Task 14 wurde eine Übersicht über aktuelle Demonstrationsprojekte von Kommunikations- und Steuerungskonzepten mit einem Schwerpunkt der IKT bezogener Aspekte der Smart-Grid-Integration von Photovoltaik erstellt.
Auf Basis dieser Erfahrungen wurde ein universeller Entwicklungspfad skizziert, der die mögliche Einbindung der Photovoltaik in einem zukünftigen Smart Grid und den Übergang von einer rein passiven Rolle hin zu einer aktiven Integration in die Netzregelung und die Energiemärkte beschreibt.
